There is Jett Woo?
- VanHockeyGuy

I think you missed what I wrote. I said they’ve drafted and developed one right-shot defenceman in the past 20 years that’s become a top four NHL defenceman. He doesn’t fall under that category.

Trade a couple of forwards. Kuzmenko is a good problem to have.
- VanHockeyGuy

We play our cards right and we could have an extra 3 1sts going into next years draft. use 2 of them to find that top 3 RHD.

.

What I found ironic, last draft there were 9 RHD taken in the 2nd round.

As luck would have it we traded away our 2nd.

Based on the teams history acquiring high picks, I'd say it's unlikely.

For almost a decade of losing the team has these guys 25 years of age and younger on the team, that they’ve drafted. This has to be below average?

Boeser - 25
Pettersson - 23
Q. Hughes - 23
Rathbone - 23
Podkolzin - 21
Hoglander - 21

The team had its first bad year in a long time when Tortorella took over in 2013/14, finished 6th last. Then they rebounded with a good year but they clearly needed to rebuild, which they didn’t, they decided on a re-tool.

Point being, since 2013/14, nine full seasons ago, they’ve finished a bottom ten team six times, 6th last, 3rd last, 2nd last, 6th last, 9th last & 8th last, and they have TWO PLAYERS they’ve drafted under the age of 25 on their team that contribute in a significant way. That’s just not acceptable imho.

Now, that doesn’t fall on one person, it’s a collective failure of the entire organization. I saw yesterday that Bieksa was the last right-shot dman the team has drafted and developed into a top four defenceman. Twenty years ago! It’s sad and disgusting at the same time.

Especially when 3 of them have questionable futures on the team.

If Bo & Kuz keep on putting up numbers to be used as a comparable to JTM, what's going to give? Keep all 3? Can they??

Podkolzin can become a serviceable player IMO, but right now, he's hot garbage. The play just dies with him continually. He works his tail off but he accomplishes absolutely nothing out there right now!

Hoglander is fine for a second round pick, he contributes and works hard. Rathbone has skill but he needs to learn to play his position better to be an effective NHL'er. Boeser is always hurt but he does have four 20 goal seasons in five years, scoring goals in the NHL isn't easy, he's a poor mans Mark Stone, another 20 goal poor skater.

I'm going to check Buffalo to see how many kids they have 25 years old or younger on their team that they've drafted.

Maybe we can convince CBJ that Miller is the center they need to insulate Kent and Sillinger?

Roslivic, Ceulmans, 2023 2nd for Miller.
Ros becomes our 3c, save 4m cap space for next season and gives us the space for Petery after it expires.

Regarding one of the Bruins players taking a bit of a dirty hit. Nick Foligno commenting.

JTM has no trade protection this season, NYI sniffing around?

They're looking at someone apparently.

Buffalo Sabres...to be fair, they've had two first overall picks which the Canucks haven't. Still, that's ten players twenty five years old or younger they've drafted, all on their roster, and they've got a good team.

Rasmus Dahlin - 22
Casey Mittelstadt - 23
Dylan Cozens - 21
John Peterka - 20
Rasmus Asplund - 24
Owen Power - 19
Jacob Bryson - 24
Jack Quinn - 20
Mattias Samuelsson - 22
Casey Fitzgerald - 25

JTM to CBJ for the package I mentioned.
Bo to NYI for 2023 1st, and Raty? maybe a cond 3rd, becomes 2nd if they win a round in playoffs?

Do you think Quinton Byfield will become what the Kings thought he could be when he was taken 2oa? he hasn't had a good start to his career, which you'd think with that draft pedigree he would...

It seems this management group is at loathe (so far) to making significant changes, albeit it's still early in the season.

I do however think there's some irons in the fire, especially with the Islanders, that one won't go away.

NHL trade freeze probably a month or so away? They'll know what this teams about by then.

I think like most big guys, who aren't ultra skilled, he's going to take some time to adjust to the NHL and he'll eventually be just fine. Even if he tops out as a second line center it's still a win with his size and age...my 2 cents.

True, but we are trading an elite goalie(who is off to a bad start on a worse team) and taking back a cap dump. I'd want their top 5 protected 1st as well.

EDIT: Also keep in mind, NJD fans have offered more on the forums for Demko and sending back a better goalie in Blackwood.

They lost out on everyone they tried to sign in the summer, man would it ever be sweet to offload JTM.

Demko's gonna get wasted here in my opinion, his value is extremely high, take advantage of that and get a good young player. But yeah, sure, a pick would be nice too!
