Regula called up to take Jones' roster spot, but will sit tonight since the Hawks D will be the same as Sunday.
Khaira in for Blackwell.
Stalock in goal.
Mrazek targeting next week's West coast road trip for his return.
Over and out.

Something that I can't help thinking about if/when Kane and Toews are traded. Don't you think that any trade of those two will be dependent on them signing for some kind of length with that team? Why would a team make a "blockbuster" trade, give up assets/picks, and then not have them sign after that season? From some of the posts here, some seem to think they will just resign here in the off-season. This isn't a A. Vermette-type trade, these are two future HOFers and those new teams just might want to keep them for a bit longer. Or are they too long in tooth for this to happen? |

Blackhawks place Seth Jones on IR, call up Alex Regula from Rockford. - LAHawk
I wish that they wouldn’t sit these young guys when called up. Pick someone off the waiver wire to be your 7th dman, let the young guys play in the A or up with the big club. When all is said and done, I could see Mitchell and Vlasic up after the TDL, Mitchell probably sooner than that. |

"Very very rare that a pending free agent that is traded mid season signs with his former team after the season. Very."
Antoine Vermette did it in 2015 after winning the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks that summer. - WEWANTCUP
Very very rare. Plenty of UFA's traded during season. Maybe 1 resigns with team that traded him every few years. |

IF Kane or Toews want to or would consider moving to another team the Hawks could and likely would give their agent Pat Brisson the opportunity to talk to the new team about their expectations for their next contract. That could affect their decision regarding their NMC. If the team acquiring them could sign them to a new contract it could affect the trade package. If the team acquiring them is planning on renting them the value of the package drops dramatically.

I wouldn't call Vermette an elite player either. That year was a very thin UFA class, and Vermette was the "get" of the year. As it was, Vermette spent a significant amount of time in Q's dog house.

I'd rather he fill the roster with vets on 1 year deals than keep 19 and 88 who can give you more quality draft picks. I see KD doing the same thing Poles is doing for the Bears, draft capital.
Although keeping Kane around and signing guys like Domi and AA to 1 year contracts and flipping them for draft picks would work as well for the next few years. - BetweenTheDots
Hey Dots, you mentioned that you are warming up to Murphy's play this year, this could be a big part why.
Kevin Dean, the Hawks’ new defense-focused assistant coach, has worked with Murphy to improve his stick usage in particular, helping him take greater advantage of his above-average reach with poke checks and the like.
Wouldn't it be something with S. Jones out for 4-6 weeks that Murphy plays like a top 4, and actually does return a #1 at the TDL. I keep thinking back 2 years ago when Tampa Bay gave up a first for David Savard. I think that is a comparable comp for Murohy. |

I like the way you think. I don't care what Murphy does the rest of this year. If Murphy gets a 1st round pick in trade without the Hawks retaining salary KD is Executive of the Year.

Big difference is Savard was a rental. Murphy still has 3 seasons on his contract after this one. The 1st is a rental price. Trading Murphy would be more along the lines of a true hockey trade. |

Oh and FTR, I never said Korchinski was a bust. At east not yet. I didn't pay thatmuch attention to his overall play for a couple of reasons. One, he was definitely going back to juniors and hopefully for two seasons. 19 year old D-men don't are well in the NHL. And he would be barely 19 at that. Two, the pre-season is filled with a bunch of guys on different levels so evaluating some aspects is fruitless to me.
I only made reference to his skating. Which was raved about and I didn't find it anything special to get hyped about. Its average NHL level. Which is fine.
His comp as far as style is Jake Gardiner and Gardiner is a terrific skater. A bonehead at times but his skating was above average. |

If the name on the card wasn’t Seth Jones, would analytics tell you he is a pretty good defenseman?
And I have irrational dislike for the way some players play the game (2 out of 3 last year are gone). I will admit that, and no analytics card would change my opinion. Am not dissing (or trying to diss) your opinion. I just think S. Jones is a better hockey player than you do. |

I don’t have a problem with Seth Jones and his game like Elbows does, I just have a problem with his cap hit and term. I guess that we won’t have to worry about the cap anytime soon, but it’s the point. |

It's nice to see, and coaching matters that's why i really prefer to see a inside out defense as opposed to a outside in defense that we played for the past 3 years.
I guess we'll see how things go I'm open to anyone being traded and also if no one is. 1 thing is for sure no new sweaters for me for a while.

My problem with the Jones brothers is their positioning. Just because you skate well does not mean you should be floating all over the zone.
Also I think Seth is trying to do too much, maybe because of his big contract. Start by just playing solid defense. If he plays good defense for a while his confidence will grow and the game will slow down for him. |
