This team deserves better. I rest my case there.

Because it's embarrassing.

Think of it has a Rohrscach test. You can either see the improving attendance as a sign that the people are coming back after 12+ years of stink or you can see it as a continued failure. The glass (and the arena, some nights) are half full. You can choose to see it how you want.

If you choose to take the pessimist route (and it seems that you have), at what point did the stink end enough so that the fans should have been back? Surely you don't think that they should have continued to fill the building during the worst parts of the stink?

If Adams traded Krebs and Quinn for Kane, would every home game hereafter be sold out, thus alleviating your "embarrassment?"

I have not seen improvement in attendance from the last half of last season. It’s been very empty. If ticketmaster's map for tonight is correct it's going to be very empty again and that with 25% Pens fans.

I don't see the improvement. The team is doing its part.

Edit: if Sabre fans were as locked in as we're given credit for, the arena would be starting to fill up not struggling for 10k

So you're pushing the narrative but you have no idea if it is accurate? Unlike most narratives (Mitts stinks, Asplund stinks, etc) this one is provably true or false.

? You lost me here. What narrative am I pushing? We have a solid team. We have two hall of fame forwards playing us tonight. We have a few thousands Pens fans coming. We'll still be 8,000 short of a sell out. That not a narrative I'm pushing. Thems the facts.

Average attendance last year: 9998
Average attendance this year so far: 12760

https://www.hockeydb.com/...ce/att_graph.php?tmi=5054

It is still early in the season, they played a home game on Halloween night

If they keep winning, the arena will get more full

The building at the end of last year was better than this year to start. Those numbers are a bit skewed in that until late Feb attendance was real bad last year.

And in one of our home games this year Blackhawk fans almost outnumbered us.

You're pushing the narrative that right now, at the start of the 2022-2023 season, that attendance is less than it should be and that is embarrassing to you. At what should the fans have started coming back? What is the level at which it would not be embarrassing to you? On opening night we doubled the average attendance from last year (not to mention it was an even bigger jump from the previous opening night).

As for the two hall of fame forwards, we've seen them play dozens of time here. This is also why getting Pat Kane won't result in any kind of giant jump in attendance by itself.

economy?

12 lousy seasons?

team is playing better and still can't get 60 percent of the seats filled on game night

15k is not embarrassing when Sid and Geno come. Tonight is going to remind me of last season against Edmonton when Connor McDavid was greeted with an empty building too.

It was one freaking night. I turned down free tickets because I had kid duties.

12 lousy seasons. And as per usual on this board, people take a very small sample size and create narratives out of them. The attendance will continue to rise as they continue to show growth and provide entertaining hockey.

And that attendance is still 4kish greater than the average last year. Not sure what your point is. It isn't like Gretzky was in town with the Oilers. This is a bottom-feeding Habs team that we've seen play dozens of times over the years. It is a random weeknight in October.

this is not a small sample size

5 games is 12 or 13 percent of their total gate revenue

after tonight it will be roughly 15 percent

RJ night and the season finale against the Blackhawks (Kane) were the only games over 13,000 people

Even the Vegas game wasn't that high

Well, yes - our attendance was worst last year and (again) people aren't going to come just because a star or two is playing in the game.
