The Leafs thread has declared they need trotz to save them. I laugh when I think of trotz trying to coach that collection of self absorbed whiners. They seem to think defense is an after thought and always have since that team has been assembled as presently constructed. That would be such a hard transition with a coach like Trotz. Remember the resistance he got from Ovechkin when he coached the caps. He would have to deal with 6 or 7 Ovechkins on that team

Exhibit A was mitchy boy going golfing the day after being eliminated in the first round for the third year in a row. As the old expression goes “when people show you who you are, believe them”. Leafs fans are whiney, but they have a legitimate complaint. They didn’t add to their failed roster.

That JT contract is looking better and better. Playing defense has always been beneath JT.

JT was going home and he is making huge money but the Leafs were not the best hockey spot for him. The Leafs already having Matthews also could have spend the money to shore up other areas. Very similar to the Yankees and Stanton.

They’ve been lacking goaltending and defense for 4 years now. It’s shocking! No cup team wins without solid goaltending and a legit top 4 on the backend. Dubas is a bum….how he’s still got a job is beyond me. He should be on the unemployment line with Snowjob

Teams like the Leafs and Cowboys when they make all that money, they are not always motivated to make the necessary changes to win a title. I think it was a mistake for the Leafs to bring everyone back this year.

I don't think the buy-in would be particularly difficult from the team, especially when they have jack-shit to show for being "one of the best teams in the league". It's not like they already have some great track record of playoff success to argue with whatever Trotz have them do.

They wouldn't have to be as good defensively under him as the Isles were, because they have the horses up front to put the puck in the net.
