It is funny though. A top 5 team in the league(by win%) this year and last year, just acquired a draft pick from us.

They have their own picks in every round next year, minus a 3rd, but they have a 3rd from Philly and extra 5th/6th from Van/Chi.

They also have an extra 2nd in 2024 from Philly too.

All while also having a deeper prospect pool than the Canucks.

Canucks meanwhile are down a 2023 5th, a 2023 7th, and a 2024 2nd

They have an extra 2023 4th from New York

It's a demoralizing comparison.

Canes really just do a couple things really well:

They invest heavily in the draft and in scouting.

They lock up young players long term to reasonably priced or undervalued contracts.

And they're SUPER diligent about not giving big money or term to guys hitting UFA status that likely won't be able to live up to their value. Skinner, Faulk, Hamilton... All pretty unpopular decisions at the time, but how much worse would the team look today if they were all part of it?

Took a idiot friend from Toronto out for dinner a few years ago and when they served him a Salisbury Steak he demanded they take it back because it wasn't a steak it was a hamburger patty. I was laughing but let him argue and argue that he "knows what a Salisbury is and this aint it"....

Another night he ordered his pork chop medium rare. They said they were not allowed to do that... he argued all restaurants serve steaks any way you want them.

A Toronto steak expert.

Huh.
I always thought of Bear as more of a shut down Dman rather than a pmd.
We shall see.

I think people are hoping that we get a decent Dman. With the injuries and the general failure to win, I think having players that can contribute is a plus. So hopefully he's better than what we've got. I've read that he's not going to be game shape for a while, so sucks to be us on top of everything.

How about that Schenn penalty in the first, McCann even looked surprised it got called lol, how many times have we seen that, took the physicality right out of the game from the nucks persective. But they can receive an elbow to the head that no one seen lol

Was just good to see some guys stand up. Hopefully it continues but this club is soft AF and they need to change that STAT.

I was more impressed with the Kraken getting back on the PP with 2 mins left in the game. Nothing to see there really.

I agree totally. I wish Van would lose the sentimental attachments and follow this model.

Put some effort into figuring out... not that many would need to.
