Quote from mid Sept... after no changes made to the D.

“I guess you never know. We’re still looking at all our options, but I’m happy with the defense group we have.” - Patrik Allvin

Didn't they also cite getting Poolman back as a significant addition?

Neat. Where do you rank him?

That's why I found Hansen's statements hilarious. Part of the Sedin era country club now on the slamwagon!!

- LordHumungous

He was apart of the failure though. Maybe he knows what just about everyone else seems to know except for anyone who takes the GM job in Van.

I like those rankings. I'd put him 12 to 14ish. If he had 2 more inches height and 20 pounds he'd win way more battles on the boards and in front of the net, and that would easily put him in the top 10.

I'd say he's an elite passer and elite at transitioning the puck but falls "short" on his physical defensive play.

It probably took 2 because some were top 10 and he wasn't ranked. So that was a bit of a waste.

Totally fair. I probably have him around 20-25. Still a really good player but his lack of shot limits his PP effectiveness and obviously he is an adventure in his own end. Great transitionally for sure

I'd go the same as Booner, somewhere 12-15 range.

His defensive side of the game could still use a lot of work but teams need offence from their defence now a days. He provides that in abundance. A power play QB.

Everybody coming to slam on the Canucks.

Feel like you hear that statement a lot these days from former tweener NHLer's. Team's fault not mine that I didn't make it.

- manvanfan

Also, it wasn’t Leaf fans who thought he was an Olympian, that was all Esplen and his slurpers.

Ya, I didnt consider his lack of shot on the PP.

I do think he would be better in his own end if he had smarter more skilled players to dish to. Petey and Bo excluded. After that you have high risk guys(Miller Myers), weak on their rush(Boeser Hoglander), not smart enough to find open ice(most of the top 9 and his D partners)... it just makes it so much more difficult to get out of your own end unless you just carry the puck the entire distance which also adds up in the mistake department when you are a smaller player.

his lack of shot is a serious problem for this team. The PK can largely ignore him. You are probably right that he would be more valuable on a team with wingers that can win board battles/ a team w more structure

Next season 6'4" 207 lb no offence Brian Dumoulin will be a free agent. Could be a good addition to trying to play better defence.

Also Ryan Graves and Damon Severson.

Totally. I guess if you remove the connotation that brings, I would judge them based on how they compare to other teams best players at F and D around the league. I woudn't put them top 10, but I wouldn't put them bottom 10 either. To me to get anyone better it has to come through luck and drafting.
- NorthNuck

They are definitely pieces that you build around as is Demko. The Canucks really need to find a complimentary partner for Hughes.

I've been watching some 2023 prospects game play lately. There's not as many forward players that are strong in the transition game then there used to be.

A lot look more dependant on defenders to move the puck.

Some mock trades for Horvat
So far, I am told the Devils, Senators and Sabres have interest. -EKlund

Devils Severson, Zetterlund, 1st for Horvat and Schenn

Senators 1st and Grieg for Horvat

Sabres Krebs, Johnson, the lowest of the 3- 2nds they have.

He was a regular poster who sold himself to Ek as someone who could fill for the absence of our blogger full time. After Gage left, there wasn't a regular blogger here. A couple started and disappeared.

Epslen was terrible. He was the most unrealistic fanboy. Worse than Nighthawk even. Some of the crap he said brought in an unbearable amount of trolls.
