People in the media keep asking where Cam Atkinson is. I’ve assumed all along his lips were planted firmly on Torts’ ass, and the rest of his body was connected to his lips. |

Atkinsons and Risto injuries are mysterious to me. Thought they both were close to returning. |

But is he really?
He has 3 points in 6 games. 2 of which came in game 1 and one was an empty net goal. In the 5 games since he has 1 assist and is -3.
Yes technically 3 points in 6 games averages out to a 41 point pace, but take out that game 1 (1 en) he has been underwhelming.
He will be lucky to reach 30 points in my opinion.
We have to start to understand that Frost is a #27 pick and if he became a 60 point player that would place him as one of the best #27 picks ever.
There was/is a reason he slipped that low. And we are seeing that now in his play. He has some skill but he also has weaknesses that IMO are always going to prevent him from being anything more than a 3rd or 4th line player. - MBFlyerfan
A 40 point scorer will be by nature an inconsistent scorer. Correct? There will be gaps in scoring. If there wasn't, he would be a higher scorer. This is a team that doesn't play with the puck much. Doesn't generate a lot of scoring chances. Frost at this point of his career, is not a player who can carry a line or a team for that matter. He has played 83 NHL games in his career. He is still a developing player. Many as you have pointed out have unreasonable expectations for the player. Those that are expecting him at this point in his career to stand out as a player in this team situation, are ignorant.

Sounds like Laughton will take over for JvR in the crease on the power play until Tippett is ready. Sounds like Tippett may become a net front presence, which I think is a wide decision. Tippett or Allison. |

There is an NBA prospect that will probably be a better professional basketball player than LeBron.
Question. If there should be an NHL level prospect on Lindros level AGAIN (Crosby/McDavid don't count)
Would you approve of the tank then? When you're going to be bad anyway? Because as it is I do not think we're going to have protracted winless streaks.
So enjoy. We should take the gift of one of these top 3 prospects and move on. |

no,no he should be able to rack up the points, gain the zone, tape to tape pass for tap in goals.
At least give the guy 25 games or so.

In my opinion, he's using McEwen to send a message. He needs to stop it and move on with the team.

Just finished Torts most recent presser. I think he pegged Frost well. If you aren’t gonna check, hit or fight, you better have another element to your game, which is scoring. I think he’s pegged JvR well because fans don’t think he’s a good player, which he is, within the right role. I for the most part love what I’ve seen of John Tortorella. I think he’s not only give this team an identity but give the players an identity independent from the team. He asked Tippett during a pre season game “what are you? Are you a scorer or a banger, I don’t know.” I think these are the types questions to ask young players. I think Torts is pressing all the right buttons.
I may not agree with how he handled the San Jose game but I still like him. I still believe in his coaching ability. |

I agree with you, I do think he is pushing the right buttons and I have zero issue with the Hays/TK move. Torts was speaking about skill players vs grinders, why he brought up Frost and needing to finish

nope, 6 games is enough, Torts will play all vets - wcorvette
I know a lot of folks really think this, but not me. I believe he will try every last possible kid and work to develop all keepers. Not everyone is NHL ready so the process will need to continue in the coming years. This is the year to develop the current young players. No matter the team wins and loss record.

I know we benched the conversation but do you or anyone else feel like he threw the game? Because I do. He’s trying to teach playing hard and I actually agree with punishing Hayes because he’s a floater but Konency I take exception to. I think you could have sat TK ten minutes. Long enough to fire him up and push harder in the last ten minutes of the game. Instead, I felt like there was no spark, no matter how hard the less talented were working. |

But Cutter Gauthier scores 2 goals in 2 games in NCAA and you're convinced he's a blue chip prospect? I can't wait for Captain Hindsight's opinion on Gauthier in a few years.
Frost is learning the NHL game and developing. He was never expected to step right in and produce like McDavid or whatever your expectations are for him. |

I like what someone mentioned where, even though it may be unfair and maybe TK didn’t deserve it as much, perhaps having them “do time together” would motivate them. I’ll take that chance. |

Mac had a rough 1st game, but he's been arguably justifying his icetime since.
That's how far this team has fallen in talent lol.

Vilardi and Frost are both 23. Two different players but similar in that they have struggled mightily. Vilardi’s start suggests that he may have the breakout season he was supposed to have last year. I don’t think Frost’s skill set would suit playing the 3rd or 4th line effectively. If he doesn’t start showing scoring punch sooner than later, I see him having a disappointing career.

If he doesn’t turn a corner here I see a Jordan weal or Jared Ross comparison. Originally I was hoping for more of a briere type player.

Didn’t he start the year similar last year? He will get some points just due to the rest of the team being rather poor quality. But same as the rest. Can revisit after 25 games once defense tightens up. Games get physical he disappears. |
