I want the Pats to have a 6-11 to 8-9 record for the next 10 years so they live in purgatory. |

Paul Hamilton is so full of poop. It's really starting to bother me how many times I've heard him lie about Hasek on WGR.
For the record, 99 playoffs:
19 games 1.77 gaa .939 % 2 shutouts
He dragged a group mediocre role players to the brink of greatness.
(frank) Paul Hamilton. That is all. |

What did he say?
For the record, this is why I don't think there is any debate that Hasek was the best player in team history, and it's not even close. I realize how great of a player Perrault was, but there are very few players that you look at and say "no human being has any business having the ability to do what he does" let alone another player. Hasek was one of those guys. The team around Hasek being so average doesn't hurt either. |

Hasek wasn't ever Hasek in the playoffs for Buffalo. That TEAM stepped up and got to the finals and then Hasek let them down.
(frank) him. He should be fired for that. |

The only year you could make that argument was 1997 (Ottawa - Derek Plante OT goal season). There's a lot of smoke to the idea that Hasek was healthy enough to play well before their season ended, but he didn't because of the Ted Nolan/John Muckler fiasco.
The gameplan against the Sabres was always "beat Hasek, and you beat this team". Give the really good teams a seven game series to figure out how to do that, and a lot of them were going to have success.
Also, for all the crying about "No Goal" in 1999, the Sabres scoring only 1 goal in almost 200 minutes of hockey prior to that moment had more to do with them losing that series. Remember, that game was a 2-1 final. They got shut out in Game 5 in Dallas before that. |

And now I'm so triggered I'm mad at Mike Peca because Jiri Lehtinen (sp) ate his lunch in that series. |

The one thing I was say, though, is that for as great as he was, that dude was strange: like Ilya Bryzgalov strange. He also burned a lot of bridges, which makes it easy for the media and players alike to have axes to grind.

And they should be. Defense tends to tighten up in the playoffs if you're any excuse for a decent team. Goaltenders get more help in that regard.

Maybe he's mad he didn't get 6 shutouts in one playoff run like he did for Detroit? Of course, he had a real roster in front of him then. |

The aggravating part looking back ....
Muckler just kept starting his guy fuhr, despite how obviously better hasek was.
Fuhr was fat, old and shot
Hasek was showing signs of greatness
The Edmonton bond with muckler , Charlie huddy, craig Simpson and craig muni.
Terrible management

This post is a pile of bull poop.
Hasek was the best sabre of alltime and possibly the best goalie of all time.

"Hardest working team in the NHL"
They were a fund team to watch IMO, and one of my favorite of all time. The collective work ethic of that team was of the charts.
I see similarities to this team KA is building. Better skill set now I think...and only getting better. |
