carey price takes a blah team to the finals on his back, he misses most of the next season and the habs are in last place
goalies don't matter much - homiedclown
Steve Penney did the same thing. It is important to get great goaltending in the playoffs. The point is that - very often - the perceived better goalie didn't win. The one who played better won.
You can always find exceptions, as you did. Trent Dilfer won a super bowl. Again, if it was a must-have then people would be building from the goal outward. |

Not sure what your point is. My point is to get as many good players as you can. - Slump Buster
My point is that's so much easier when you have an anchor in net and not a slot on the roulette wheel. Look at how many great, not good, great players Toronto has. New goalie every year.

And look at how few great goalies there are. Maybe 4? Don't get me wrong, if I can get a great one then sign me up. That is extremely unlikely so I am fine with not focusing on it. Look at how many decent goalies we lucked into when we were trying to lose. The goalie names on the cup are regularly not the names of great goalies.

I don't do the memes, but that's a bold strategy, Cotton. |

I think there is a reference there that I don't get? Either way, it isn't a strategy, it is just the truth. I don't disagree - the fastest way to get respectable is to get a stud goalie. I would have been all for going after Hellybuck.

I think if there was concern he wouldn't even be practicing. They've been ridiculously patient with him - I think this is just the last step in that process. They are nothing if not consistent.

He'll be 100% when he leads the D onto the field w/e game it is. That's all that matters. It will be great to see his smile. He seems to play with true joy. |

I think it's more of a "we don't need to rush him so we won't" kind of thing.

Maybe I’m just seeing what happened to JK Dobbins and trying to make comparison.
Dobbins missed 1.5 years came back and is now out again for Knee surgery. |

Sure, but I think with Dobbins there were signs that he wasn't ready. While it was odd that he went from being at practice every day to no longer visible I think it was a good sign to see him running around like a kid last week.

They really don't need him this week. GB passing game is horrible. If he is ready and 1 more week will get him more healthy this is a good week to sit him to do it. |

I think there might have been a small setback. Like you said just seemed odd that he went from practicing to not visible with no peeps about it. |

New topic NON POLITICAL
If the governess loses the Bills ain't getting the stadium deal. This is not a statement of R versus D. Just a fact.
I'm not going to waste my time voting, but some of you may want to. - lacaprup
*HOPEFULLY* the current deal does fall apart,
and we get a lakeside stadium in the city (like we should’ve had all along) |

Deadlines for small, unimportant things keep getting missed. They're waiting downstate to see if they can get out of this. Never for a second forget we're a colony to the people downstate. They were irate Hochul ever set foot in the Governess's mansion. - lacaprup

Wouldn’t this be the perfect game for him to get his feet wet in? Doesn’t have to play whole game, almost treat it like pre season and have him on a snap count.
I’d rather not just throw him to the wolves against Justin Jefferson.
IMO expecting Tre to come back and be a top 5 CB immediately is asking a lot. |

I would not be shocked if he is on the roster next week, but inactive
and then active vs vikings |

I’d rather his first game back not be at MetLife stadium, a turf known for causing knee injuries. |

Both GOP and Democrat downstate politicians. None of them want a WNYer for governor. If the AG weren't busy running the enforcement arm of modern day Tamney Hall and throwing a string of harassment lawsuits at anything connected to President Trump she'd be the Democratic nominee. They think she's more effective where she is, so there she stays. Many downstaters will "hold their nose" and vote for Hochul, but the rank and file NYC pols will be quietly happy if she loses and you'll see the $800 million disappear in a heartbeat. I hope the Pegulas have their lawyers ready.
Never forget. We're a colony to them. Nothing more. |

Well sure, but it hasn't even been a full year, won't be for another month. I want him for the homestretch, he's got plenty of games to build up, especially with how the rookies have played |

I believe Zelden already said the first thing he’d don is reopen the stadium talks.
IIRC he was adamant about not using tax payer money, or using a lesser portion. |

Sabres looked like the youngest team in the league playing their 4th game of a western road trip last night.
They were due for a stinker, how they respond with MON, CHI, and DET up next at home will tell a story. Win 2 of 3 and all is well.
Even when they were winning, the special teams have been god awful. If they don’t get that figured out, then they will be in serious trouble.
Other then that, the goaltending was bound to regress at some point and they will have to do a better job with Samuelsson out of defending high danger scoring opportunities.
That’s all I got |
