No, that is not what was said. The "other side" said that we need to understand the talent we have - that's what a build is. Colorado stayed the course even though they surely had holes as the last 5 years went by - you should hop over to their board to tell them that they did it wrong.

It was very much said.

“You acquire another forward, who’s spot is he taking” {insert lines that have JJ, Quinn, Mitts, Krebs locked in to top 6 roles}

As I've said before. Biggest mistake of my life was not giving your mother the money for the abortion. I am truly sorry.

Nobody said any of this. I love how you build narratives.

The problem with all of this talk is that there are no specifics in it. There isn't a person on this board that wouldn't make a good hockey trade. Who would that be? Yesterday had us getting Kane for Weber and Ennis. Is it Chychrun for a bag of beans today?

- Slump Buster

Says I build narrative then builds a narrative that was never said with players who haven’t been on the roster in 10 years.

This is gold.

Colorado, whose team was over 80% made up of player acquired in trades? That team?

The team that started to tear it down and traded Duchene annd others and was talking about trading Mac?

That’s the one we are living by?

- ImThatGuy

The team was built almost exclusively through the draft with a couple of smart hockey trades sprinkled in. They trusted the process and kept the coach through several losing seasons. They trades they made were either selling or hockey trades.

Ok, I'll spell this out for you. Please read it really, really slowly. I recommend reading it a few times.

"Weber, Ennis and a pick" is synonymous (this means similar) with bad trade offers.

True or false,
People said we should trade Kane for Weber, Ennis and a pick.

The Sabres aren’t building a team like Colorado did.

This insane comparison needs to stop

We have no franchise center

We’re building a team like Nashville did

Yes, I said it. It was in response to people thinking that we can get him for a mix of second round draft picks and Olo. I was mocking the idea that we could get him for that little.

I think we should follow the Tampa or Detroit model, draft late round picks that turn into all stars.

Or just draft MacKinnon but then we have to wait 5 years for him to become a top 3 NHL forward which nobody saw coming.

You're insinuating that Colorado's build is like what we tried to do with Eichel, which isn't it all what they did. They were patient, drafted well, and made smart hockey moves. That's what we need to do. If there is a hockey trade to be made, lets do it.

Think about it this way. If we had one last night then none of this conversation would be going on again. That's one game out of 82.

Well this is false since most of us who have been on this train even talked about yesterday before the game.

I’m not. I don’t even know how you made this leap.

Colorado is a cup champ and perennial contender because they have two top 5 NHL players and another in the top 10.

Thompson is not MacKinnon

Tuch is not close to Rantanen

Dahlin is not as great as Makar

We have no one close to Devon Toews

There’s no comparison to be made and no reason to ever mention Colorado in a discussion about the Sabres

e. johnson trade
jack johnson free agent

top d makar drafted
middle pair byram drafted

up front

kadri trade
burakovsky trade
nichushkin free agent
lehkonen trade

There is a big difference between kicking around potential trade ideas (yesterday) and the panic and dramatic statements about the team's dire plight and Adams competence (today).

Nothing that was said was dramatic

You don’t need to kiss Adams feet on everything he’s done/not done.

Maybe we can get to .500 hockey before making him infallible

Well, yes - this is my point. You are patient, draft well and make smart hockey trades. Not shown was the daftees that they traded for so many of these players. If I can trade Jost for Kadri, sign me up.

What they didn't do 4 years ago is panic by rushing out to fill perceived holes.

That didn't answer my question, so I will ask again: who would you cut, bench, or trade, to bring about a tangible improvement to the team, following last night's horrible performance?
- RichardRoma

I'd love to have you provide an answer to this question yourself.

You won't though, because like all pussies, you love to ridicule the thoughts of others, but yet you wont provide any thoughts yourself.

Agreed. He shouldn't be judged right now. This all needs to play out. That said, I love just about everything he has done. I suspect we'll see a hockey trade at some point.

The Edmonton Oilers say hello. So does Toronto. Superstars help but having a deep, well-constructed team is the key. Why is Tampa at the top every year? Because they have a fantastic roster that was constructed with patience. Good drafting, great hockey trades.

A. The Oilers we’re just in the WCF

B. You keep saying the roster was constructed with patience and no one knows what the hell you’re talking about

Colorado has been a cup contender for a few years now. They’ve been making trades and other moves every single year for 5 years now

Sure, but they also won without him. It's more important for your goalie to be playing well than to just be great. Look at all of the goalies that won over the last decade that did nothing before or after.
