The Sabres ignored glaring holes in the name of development and are sitting the development guys or playing them on the 4th line while 28 year old journeyman Vinny Hinostroza singlehandedly costs us 2 goals last night.
It’s frustrating because they could absolutely be a playoff team with another impact top 9 forward - sbroads24
Ignored glaring holes in the name of development? That's the freaking nature of development. These are holes until they aren't. Again, the players that have developed nicely didn't get there by running out and getting more players. We let Cozens develop and now it is time to do the same with Paterka, Quinn, Power, etc. We have eligible prospects to potentially fill the holes - they just have to do it.
The idea that an "impact top 9 player" puts us into the playoffs is absurd |

I've almost reached the point where I can't have him and Z on the team after this season. They're almost the exact same player. I want one of them, dont really care which, but can't have both. - lacaprup
Z puts the biscuit in the basket and can play a heavy game.
Assplund gets pushed around like a female dog.
Nice that hes a cheer leader for the other swedes.
How many times a game can asplund get destroyed?
You have to notice the physical target he has on his back.
Unlike the z train |

Power needs to either be traded, or sent to Rochester to put on more muscle. |

PPL, the sky is not falling, if anyone here thought the Sabres are/were a playoff team this year your smoking the good stuff. We are the youngest team in the NHL, we have a 41 year old and a career back up as our starting goaltenders.
We had a clunker of a game last night, everyone was pretty bad. But that is what you get with young players, all I want to see is real growth continued and so far so good.
Lets see where we are around Christmas, I bet we are on a pace for 80-90 pt which would still put us out of a playoff spot but knocking on the door.
Then in the offseason you go get a Patty Kane and other Scoring Vets to help you get over the hump and succeed.
Everything is fine, lets see if they are able to have a short memory and win the 2 home games this week. |

Its really not. We have a good amount of talent and are actually getting some saves for once
The fact that Jack Quinn was penciled into the top 6 and within 5 games has found himself in the press box and/or the 4th line is gross mismanagement by Adams

I don't want to get into a back and fourth but do you really want to Trade the number 1 over all pick because he got knocked down in a game?

So you’re calling us a potential 90 point team but saying the playoffs are possible is crazy?
A really good forward could add 6-8 points. Getting some good goaltending could add a few more.
I know though, we have absolutely no expectations ever because why would we? |

They've played 6 games and won four of them. Why the dramatic statements? The season has barely started. If Krebs or Quinn sit or play on the 4th line for a bit, no problems at all. We all wanted competition, right? They will work it out. It isn't like they were banished to the taxi squad.

This situation was predicted by myself and a few others when clamoring for any move of substance in the offseason to the forward core.
The odds of Quinn, Krebs, Peterka, Mitts, Olofsson all being competent 5 on 5 forwards or being ready for full time NHL work for the duration of this season was a complete pipe dream.
There was absolutely, undeniably room for an add at forward that would’ve helped this team right now and also would have absolutely no bearing on the “draft and development” model they’re using.
I was told otherwise |

Good Post!! Add a top 6 forward and a Good top 4 RD and it could really do wonders for this team.
Actually might help keep are goalies healthy to not have to face 60 shots a night. |

for those that say that is not the plan
you can only hold onto 50 players under contract
at some point these prospects are going to be exposed to waivers to be sent down to rochester |

Plus we have a very young team, prospects are gonna get blocked, it's gonna happen we have a lot that need to be evaluated. It's how long does Adams wait to jump in the game. |

No, that is not what was said. The "other side" said that we need to understand the talent we have - that's what a build is. Colorado stayed the course even though they surely had holes as the last 5 years went by - you should hop over to their board to tell them that they did it wrong. |

You forgot to add “Savoie, Kulich making the roster this year as well”
Several of us were told a lot of things if we said anything less than “Quinn will score 30 this year”
It was all predictable, but
“I don’t deserve for this team to get wins” or so I was told. |

Colorado, whose team was over 80% made up of player acquired in trades? That team?
The team that started to tear it down and traded Duchene annd others and was talking about trading Mac?
That’s the one we are living by? |

Nobody said any of this. I love how you build narratives.
The problem with all of this talk is that there are no specifics in it. There isn't a person on this board that wouldn't make a good hockey trade. Who would that be? Yesterday had us getting Kane for Weber and Ennis. Is it Chychrun for a bag of beans today?
