Depends entirely on what’s coming back.

I was thinking of some few players that are a great deal younger.

This is just baffling to me... Punishing Beau for not back checking firm enough on Point goal.? Ok.. but on the same play Mayfield gave the puck away, and Romanov allowed that shot pass to get to point... and Beau scored in the game and set up Brock for what should have been a tap in if he was stronger on his stick and didn't skate behind the net..

and the team is struggling offensively so you bring in Johnston and move Bailey to first line? truly bananas.

That Barzal line

Also, Beau has been pretty putrid along with most of our fwd group. Not sure who Palmeri is blowing to stay in the lineup? He has been the worst of the bunch.

I'm not getting this either and Barzal and Bailey are two players that do not shoot. Have to put Wally on that line. Why is Salo in Bridge?

Bau has 2 goals and 1 assist in 5 games.. and is -2 on a team that is struggling.

Palmieri has 1 points on the top line in 6 games and is -4... He's been brutal.

Brock has a lot of points but when you look at all of our goals against.. A LOT of them have been a result of Brock turning the puck over in the D-zone or neutral zone.

Trade what you can this year keep the #1 pick and tell Lou Thank You for a great career and enjoy retirement!
- ses111

Fully agree, if this team can’t win 10 more games by or before November 21st then they are in trouble. Make the trade Lou blow it up.

Sitting Beauvillier didn’t make a difference, i was hoping they sat him because someone was trading for him.

Soshnikov has been terrible, Salo got benched deservedly so.... Aho is certainly not the answer.

TEam has a lot of issues. benching one of the guys who is actually skating out there is nuts.

Brock has been pretty awful on the defensive side of the puck. Palmeri should sit I agree but I’m not really seeing Beau as some absurd benching choice rt now

He’s got old cement hands on one side and Bailey Chains on the other. That’s going to be a real offensive threat. Like they are going to offend people in a big way.

Good thing Barzal got his money because he is not getting a lot of points with these wings.

Presently it looks like Lambert has a system that doesn’t align with his personnel.
- Cptmjl

New system with new coach takes time. We all get that. But the reality is Lou whiffed on Tavares @10.5 per I think, Panarin, Gaudreau…..all top line talent, all in the range of 10ish per. That’s admission of the need to bring in top end talent. Instead, Nelson was moved up to the top line with aging vets. They are where they should be. Not a cup roster. Period (imo)

If this group doesn’t get their crap together I don’t think adding anyone is the answer. It’s time to trade off whatever we can and get ready for this draft. We’re not close to that yet BUT if this continues that’s what we should be doing imo.

It's the harsh truth but Lou has done nothing these last two years to improve the roster. Lou's only big move was hiring Barry which was the obvious choice and not an under the radar brilliant move. Just getting Romanov this offseason is not good enough if you are serious about winning a Cup. If you have prime prospects ready to help the team maybe you can be quite in the offseason. This is not the case with the Islanders.

I like Garland but he's just going to add to a group of "good not great" forwards making a moderate salary.

I don't think the Isles are in the position to be buying anything right now unless there's some amazing deal to be had for a real high-end forward out there.

If they don't get it together ASAP the only trades they're going to be making are going to be current players for futures.

There are no easy quick fixes for the Islanders. You have to get your business done in the offseason. Hold onto the #1 Raty, Dufour and trade whatever vets you can.

This.

We didn’t add anything to our forwards. We’re still trotting out Aho. We promoted a coach from a non-playoff team. And, they expected improvement? I hate to say this after 6 games, but we’re gonna have to play out the string this season and if we’re out of playoff contention at the trade deadline, trade whoever the (frank) you can. Gonna have to build around Barzal and the their top 4 defense. And, someone has to tell Barzal to start shooting the (frank)ing puck. Guys making $9 million a year have to shoot the puck, not pass it 98% of the time.

It's not time to start trading anyone yet. But if they don't turn it around soon they're going to be selling at the deadline.

No worry about Lou starting to trade now. Lou loves these vets.

In my opinion when a new GM comes in, they need to clean house. Lou continued with Snows draft picks and sprinkled in some aging vets. Isles haven’t had a top line since 2 months of Vanek, Tavares, Okposo. I like Barzal and think he has upside, but truth is he isn’t on the level as most teams top end talent. Isles do not have a legitimate top line. Period.
