Great to win on Potvin Socks night. Fuking lubes been cheering that for 43 years and still think it’s funny.

Most of the idiots yelling it weren't even born when it happened and I doubt they know why they're saying it.

Sorokin looked good. They were sloppy at times but a win is a win.

Maybe they can capitalize.

That's an understatement.. there were a few that I thought the Ranger's had scored (so did all their annoying fans).. couldn't believe he saved it.

I started a "1940 chant" after the final buzzer... you can't imagine how many Ranger fans couldn't wait to tell me it doesn't make sense....

Ahhh but "Potvin sucks" does? 4 cups, HOF, Norris, etc. You guys have 1 cup in 80 years and think you're the Yankees of hockey. You're the cubs."

Bellows gone lol this is a joke
- Upstate_isles

They gave him many opportunities to succeed despite a ton of set backs. The idea that when a draft pick doesn't work out it's somehow a HUGE issue with the Islanders being able to develop talent is just foolish. We have more home grown talent on our starting roster than any other club in the league. By a lot... Sometimes Draft picks don't work out.

Bellows was drafted because he was a sniper... he just continued to not be able to round out his game. Comparing him to Johnston isn't fair. Johnston is a guy they play once a month and healthy scratch him most games and he is fine with that.. He is a 4th line fighter that will be put in if someone gets hurt on bottom lines or their is a goon on the other team.

https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2016e.html it's not like Bellows draft was a great one... look around when he was drafted. Lots drafted above him that are zero too.

Ironic that Tage Thompson might be the best pick after Bellows.

#Isles held the Rangers without a shot on goal for the final 9:38 of Wednesday's win.

Once they had the game in hand they locked it down Trotz style.

good game overall. Rangers getting goalies last 4 games. Complete opposite of last year. Actually oushooting and chancing opponents but losing. Scoring should come. Isles took away the slot well all night which was key

Shots last night 41 NYR 29 NYI, goal tending at it’s best. Two questions i have from last night; 1) Sorokin was hot last night doe’s Lou use him as trade bait?
2) Barzal only had 13 minutes on ice, is he hurt or is coach holding his time?

First time at UBS Arena tonight. Way better than MSG… not even close.

Haven't been to MSG since they completed the reno, but UBS is fantastic. Not that I spend a ton of time up there, but it'd be nice if they fixed the loose floor "stones" in the outside Heineken bar. Like every other one is loose

I think Lou’s dangling Sorokin, what other pieces does he have that teams need?

That'd be throwing the baby out with the bathwater

If Lou does that:

Sorry I’m getting nervous, and worried Lou is cooking up something to save the season. I know we should wait until Thanksgiving but Islanders need to go 9 - 5 over the next 14 to stay in Wild card running.
My second question was why did Barzal get 4th line minutes? Is he hurt?

Trading Sorokin would get us a most likely big return and not save the season but destroy it

I do not know if I agree that it was a great game. Goaltender bailed the team out throughout the night. The defense looked porous at times letting Rags just walk in. Forwards looked like hamsters running around aimlessly. PP still a useless weapon.

PK remained solid. So I would there were some positives and bragging rights but not a great game.

- Nfdbulldawg

Shutout, against a quick offensive rags team and I'm getting the it wasn't "great".I guess I should have said lucky. What's wrong with me being overly positive.
I thought they were far better at keeping the Rags opportunities to the outside and were much better in their own zone. Sorokin came up with some gamers but isn't that what we expect from him? If you're going to press in the neutral zone and pinch at the Red and offensive blue line your gonna give the other team some opportunities. Get used to it. You're not going to see the stifling D structure of a couple years ago.
Team plays like they did last night consistently they will win a good amount of games imho.

No unless something goes completely south your looking at your franchise goalie for the next 7 to 10 years.

[While it should not matter who he is playing with. To say the only guys he has not played with is the zamboni driver and the beer guy. There is only soo much one guy can do. He not Connor McDavid good.

The team obviously has home grown talent but this team has not been able to draft or acquire the sure fire sniper. Would be nice if Wally and or Raty turn out to be the much needed goal scoring wing.

Bellows not working out is tough and the player has to take responsibility but this Islander team had had issues with offense for a long time.
