I wish I could take that attitude. This is a terrific time for Philly sports based on results alone (well, the Sixers will come around), the most hopeful that I can remember. But to me the Flyers are digging their own grave of perpetual mediocrity and it is a fly in the ointment for me.

This is not a Cup contender and there currently is no known top-end talent nor prospect in sight. Potentially being a playoff bubble team will only end up exactly how you predict… perpetual mediocrity.

I wouldn’t worry much, what they are doing now is not sustainable. They are getting caved in possession, shooting percentages will revert to the mean, and Hart isn’t going to maintain a .950 sv%

They are better under Torts than they were under AV/Yeo but even a 15-18 point improvement over last season only takes them to 76-79 points. They will still have a shot at moving up and worst case they are picking 8th or 9th

Considering this draft has 3-5 guys who would have gone 1st overall last year and another 5 or 6 who would all have been top 5 guys in 2022, they’ll still have a pretty good shot at landing an impact player.

Once the goal tending levels out it will be back to where any thought they would be. They are getting outplayed. IT really isn't all that encouraging to me.

As for breakfast, I plan on enjoying the fine produce brought in from the garden during my visit home. I’ll toss some of their blueberries and strawberries in a cup for snacking. I’ve already visited the ladies this morning and grabbed their eggs for everyone else, even though I don’t partake. Now that I have tomatoes here I can taste, I’ll carve one up over a fresh bagel, toss on a round of pancetta and garlic quickly pan fried together, and melt some smoked Gouda on top with a dash of cracked pepper.

Speaking for myself, my breakfast:

whole grain muffins, well toasted, split in two.
On one: smoked salmon (Trader Joe's has great prices in such times) and 3 min poached egg (no hollandaise though)
On the other: smeared avocado, sliced tomato, dollop of pesto.
Generous salt and pepper over everything.

Indonesian coffee, hand ground, brewed strong.
