Oh crap, Lordy kept mentioning the team going 0-5, yet I kept picking them to win 5-1.
I guess Lo4dy isn't such a slurper after all. Lol
On another note, my brother is going to Vancouver, and he has always made sure to go to at least 1 game, but he has no interest internet in going.
Thought it was a bit strange, because he likes, or use to like Hughes and Pouty, now he is asking himself why..
Usually they go in a group of 10-16, but they won't be going this time.

Better? Better past history but they seem like they need to go through the same mistakes with this roster that Benning did. I think Benning may have had a better idea of who to keep and who to trim at this point. I'm not saying Benning is a good GM or he should still be here but this group committing $14.5m to Boeser and Miller until he is 37 yet trading a 2nd to create $1.5m cap space is more Benning than Benning. His contracts left on this team are more reasonable. Also, Benning wasn't afraid to let a free agent walk... for better or worse. Not as cowardly I guess.

I also doubt JB would have drafted Lekkerimakki. He seemed to be heading for more grit like the Podz pick for example. Either way, what do we base this claim that this group is better? They put a political correct priority on hirings to start, stood pat on TDL, stood pat on the draft and then picked a soft swede, committed 4.5 on a 3rd liner on on July 1st, the Miller and Boeser signing... put themselves in a tough situation with Bo now... turned their backs on the D problem for forwards instead... this is all in less than a full season. I'm looking for the positives to balance out all that. Where the (frank) are they?

- boonerbuck

I think that's a whooooole lot of recency bias. I am/was all for trading Miller or Boes or whoever, so don't love the signings... but I don't think Benning ever traded an expiring contract for any value. So he would have signed them, or let them somehow walk (and we all roasted him about his asset management, ie. Toffoli). This is also the guy who traded a boat load for OEL last off season, so him having a better idea of who to keep or trim is pretty laughable. If you want a trip down memory road: https://www.capfriendly.c.../trades/staff/jim-benning

Not a big fan of the continuation of the direction of the club, especially with the cap/D/signings, but if you're looking for bright sides: this team isn't as bad as the first 5 games – they just have to close things out and get some of their D back and healthy. They've been on the road, so practice time is minimal to sort poop out. Also, Miller is still tradeable, so if they continue to poop the bed they can get out from that contract

16 points for the top 9?

First game home after a dismal road trip. Basically another road game. 2-1 Sabres, Canucks moral victory (the didn’t blow a lead, but nearly caught up)

Agree, was hoping for patience instead of doubling down though. I gave Elmer a year and a half though so I’m prepared to wait.

This management team wins the diversity cup 10 times out of 10, thankfully we’re so woke.

I don’t think this team deserves Bedard, they would turn him into “Country club Connor”. Our Defence is horrible. B & B have to go, although the rest of the league sees this too and no one wants Boeser. Bo maybe but probably won’t get the return we think we would.

There’s a pattern emerging this year and that’s this: the team starts off well, gets a lead, then the opposition bullies and pushes us out of games. We’re not just a mentally weak team, we’re physically weak too and other teams know this.
Until that’s addressed, we’ll continue to get pushed out of games. This sits on “leadership” of the team. It also sits on management for building a team that reflects the identity of the city its in rather than the whole province it represents.

But the interviews and front office hirings are good

Nah. JR has been awful everywhere. He got lucky in Pitt with a hot rookie goaltender. They weren’t the best team but won. It happens. Even Chiarelli won a cup and he’s completely incompetent.

The situation is fluid. If they get a high pick this year, great. If this win some games, great. If they trade some players, great.

After 30 years of being a fan of the Canucks, If I don't like the team, I won't watch but I'm surely not going to come and whine daily about everything the team has done.

I'm not happy the team is sucking but this is whinerbuzz for some all day, everyday

Demko’s gotta have that
- Pacificgem

Another 4 goals allowed by Demko. He looks slow and shaky out there not crisp.

Time to start having the discussion is he just another Luongo/Markstrom?

BPA tho

The team needed another skinny skilled winger, those are in high demand around the league

- Nucker101

Not that I wanted the club 0-5 but I did predict a slow start. Products of BPA.

We should have been drafting for need on Defense for awhile now.

Problem is, 2023 draft is already being overhyped so picks will be very hard to acquire
- CanuckDon

Bedard is now where near in McDavids class from what I've seen so far. Draft a good RHD FFS.

Exactly, he knew the team standing pat in the summer would lead to another dumpster fire to start the season. No surprises.

Not that I wanted that to happen was just a feeling with the injuries, Bo's contract whining and a few other things like this club being soft AF.

So on my pick 4 I had every game except...the Canucks lost in OT and cost me the ticket typical. No backup ticket either.

Like I said before I think Rutherford is here for retirement money not to build a 3-cup winner like in PIT. We get what we get. I know what to expect. Hoping Allvin uses his scouting prowess like Benning did to snag some gems like Petey.

However I'm going all-in on a home win for Van this Saturday. Maybe it's the reverse effect we normally suck at home and are good on the road so a big home win streak?
