Sid's hand F'd up or something?... Why isn't he taking as many faceoffs?
- MattStrat

Because all the video has Sid taking the faceoff. They’ve been switching it up to throw the other teams off per an article I read today

Teams mail in several games each season. That was definitely one of them and we still stole a point. I don't think it was much more than that.

Petry was brutal.

I’ve been a fan of Jeff Petry’s for a while. Always thought he was criminally underrated. But he needs to start showing something. Right now he’s looking pretty washed, but that also might be just getting acclimated. Always feel like D men take longer to figure out their fit into a new system than forwards.

I said Archibald is “more like” Tanev than any other on the team now. Who is your choice?
- sjfpp

Rust, Zucker, and Heinen.

They have good speed, decent hands, a desire to drive the net, willing to play physical, and solid defensive positioning. These are the traits I liked about Tanev.

All I've seen from Archibald is the hitting part. There are others who are more like Tanev than Archibald, but these are my top choices.

Those guys are way too skilled to be compared to Tanev. The current comp on the team is McGinn.

Tanev and McGinn aren’t that comparable. McGinn is very calculated. Tanev just has the foot speed and the determination to outwork people. He constantly surprises Dmen who are going back on the play and has a relentless back check. McGinn relies on positioning and reading the play, Tanev just goes full send every shift.

I’m honestly not even saying they’re that comparable, but as far as who’s currently playing the Tanev role and who has a skill set that is vaguely similar, it McGinn.

Yeah that makes sense but still there were some pretty important faceoffs that he should of taken, didnt and were lost.

Pens need to start taking the body on these guys. Too many fly by stick checks
- Thorny87

Don't you know that body checks are a bad thing because it means you are playing badly according to the Excel sheet?

According to the spread sheet academy, you should never block a shot or throw a hit because it means you don't have the puck. Never mind the idea that they are possible ways of regaining possession of a puck, they are just always 100% bad.

First road game of the season and in an amazing city that can be quite distracting for traveling males....maybe more so millionaire athlete males....perhaps that was a factor, perhaps it wasn't. Perhaps its hard for a team that's played and won so many important games in their life, much more important than game 3 of regular season against a non-divisional opponent, to find urgency in their game every night. Perhaps they played down to competition, perhaps they didn't. Perhaps they're not actually good...

The 3rd line looks good, the 4th looks terrible. Teddy should greatly help with this, whenever he returns.

I am always curious to see how a team responds after a L in the early going of a season. I find the Pens under Sully usually come back strong the next game, we will see if that's the case vs LA Thursday.

Figured to be a powerhouse this season Leafs lost to Zona last night haha...the Wild are 0-3 to start and have gave up 20 goals against in those 3 games...Tampa is 1-2... it's oh so early....

Geno is at 65%
Carter is at 61.5%
Guentzel is at 60.0%
Poehling is at 51.4%
Crosby is last at 50.0%

Maybe that factors into it a bit as well. Run with the hot hands while you can.

Pens are one of the oldest teams in the league, those dudes have been to MTL before lol the guy who played the worst lived in Montreal and went to the SCF with them. That ain't no excuse lol good teams lose to bad teams all the time. Game 3 of 82, just move onto the next. It's a marathon not a sprint.

Leafs and Wild neglected goaltending and Tampa has zero depth especially with the very overrated Cirelli out.

hahaha I know... and note my over usage of "perhaps" in that post. Yeah, Petry was awful, more so because of the penalties, but not near as awful as that 4th line together and especially not as awful as when its was 4th line and 3rd pair out there.

Yeah for sure....but I still think all 3 of those teams are in the playoffs in April. So much time left to figure things out.

Yesterday Dom tweeted that the Leafs are the movie The Room and it was the most apt comparison ever. Desperately need Matthews to get out of there so I can stop half assedly rooting for them to do something.

I’m not so sure about Minnesota. They have poop goaltending and they gave away an 85 point player.

Tampa and Toronto for sure, I dunno about Minny. That division is rough with Dallas, Colorado, St. Louis and Nashville. I could see them maybe snaggin a wildcard spot.

Just read that the Canucks are the first team in NHL history to lose the first 3 games of season after blowing a multi goal lead in each of them haha...that's harsh
