Did you say last season’s attendance was 83%?

ESPN has taken that page down, but yeah, I remember 84% as the figure.

Too busy to search but 2 odd weeks ago I had predicted what sort of system JT would run, and had mentioned that a winger would be forechecker 1 aka F1 (and indeed often would be the only forechecker).

Thankfully, I was corrected, and I was told that unless the team is playing a left wing lock/center lock, who goes in on the first forecheck, whether it is winger or center, "is interchangeable". Pretty sure those were the exact words used.

So, Bill, there you have it. We are both wrong. I mean, whatcha gonna do?

That statement was made by me. So two things here. First we have to dispense with the obvious lie you told this morning on the other thread. Obviously, you pay attention and my posts definitely matter to you.

"I don't pay attention to people with irreparable psychiatric issues who seek my attention with a pathetic slavishness. He is all yours."

Now to the hockey. First of all, let's use some common sense. Why in hockey systems do they label it F1,F2 and F3? Why not C, LW, RW?

The do so because the forward spots in today's modern NHL systems are indeed interchangeable. Quite different from old time "non system" hockey where the center says in the middle of the ice and the wingers just skate up and down the wings.

A lot of play in hockey happens off of face offs. What you missed is that Bill is talking primarily on the forecheck. My comments were rated to both zones. The center often finds himself deep in the defensive zone on face off plays. I would disagree with Bill that the center never finds himself as the F1 on the forecheck. It's certainly less common. There is plenty of information online about hockey systems. Maybe educate yourself. You might learn something.

Under Fletcher in 2019-2020 the Flyers were 1 win away from the final 4, don't forget.

Travis Konency was easily a top 3 player I would have traded.
- SuperSchennBros

if you could return sure, but all players values were depressed due to the team being a disaster. Trading TK under that scenario is not a good idea and is giving up on him

trick r treat is campy as hell by design but is one of my all time favorites because of its level of self awareness. i rewatch every year for sure.

thats a good take on midsommar. have you watched hereditary? not directly related in any fashion but I believe by the same guy.

- stayinthefnnet

Yes! Very much enjoyed Hereditary which lead me to watch Midsommar, because of the same writer/director. I'm interested to see which films he comes out with next, like when Jordan Peele debuted with Get Out. But Hereditary was one of those rare horror movies that had great writing, acting and scares. Not too many of those anymore. The Haunting of Hill House series was another one like that, you're just so consumed by the story the scares hit that much harder.

Dead on here. Ive been wanting to watch the haunting of hill house but for whatever reason undertaking a new series is always a production for me, whereas a movie you can just plow in an evening.

i agree with the rarity of good horror though. like i said, i am more than willing to go into things with a margarita sized grain of salt and even that isnt enough to stave off disappointment most times. Still, the best of time year though by far.

1. The critical word there is "pay", not attention. I don't pay attention, any more than I pay attention to a panhandler outside WaWa who accosts me. Occasionally, posts come inadvertently to my notice, whether I like it or not.

2. And thanks for once again frantically waving your hands and introducing contexts neither Bill nor I was talking about. I have highlighted them for your benefit. Bill was not just talking primarily about the forecheck, he was talking exclusively about the forecheck And you know who else was? Moi! No one was talking about old school systems, or faceoffs, or anything like that.

3. And oh, saying "it is interchangeable" (which is what you said then) is not quite the same as "it is certainly less common".

Bye, bye clownie. But worry not, after your hundredth nudge up my asscrack, I will turn around and "pay attention" to you once more and make your day.

Yeah, I have on occasion, sure. In my younger days. I guess I have paid attention in my past.

But my wife works a lot with soup kitchens and the like, and I now know that it is not a good idea. Money often feeds addiction. Food often encourages them from not finding stabler alternatives, which do exist. Shelters are often terrible places, but food pantries in Philly are by and large ok. And there are a lot of them.

And likewise for MJL, he really needs to get a life and move on from his torrid fixation with me.

(Btw, I like this version of you better than the other recent one. More jovial).

Its is largely because of Covid. Look at all Canadian venues last year. They also nosedived.

Another semantics argument. Violating multiple rules of your own rule of debate posted on 9/17. Specifically rule 1.

Everything I posted in response is within the scope of systems play and what the center's responsibilities are and how forwards interchange. You had an opportunity to learn something here. You attempted to take a shot at me and failed.

Canadian? I’m not following your train of thought. I would look at non-playoff EC teams based in the US. Detroit is a comparable.

Canadian cities attendance is lower because of Covid restrictions. Philly also had Covid restrictions. Florida did not.

That is what you see in the figures.

How should fans feel about the men in various departments doing the exact same?

Say someone like Barber, McCrossin, or Brown for example.

Bookmarked!

Afaik though, attendance figures are official butts on seats, not tix sold. If it had been the latter, we could have had official figures about that made available right at the start of game. But they wait until everyone has come in and then some more time to announce it.

- PT21

Thanks - I still think there will be a discrepancy between the two figures due to poor performance leading to apathy among season ticket holders and corporate tickets not attending and not being able to resell them

You sound like one of the wags in 12th St. Air Command back in the 90s. Gay clubs always are the best nightclubs.

I miss the sleazy edge of Philly.

I remember when I first came to Philly in 1990. In those days you didn't even need ID to travel in domestic flights. I had no money, bought the return tix of an Asian dude called Michael Yang.

From Portland OR to CHI was fine. But my flight was late and the connecting flight to Hartford CT was about to depart and they were paging me. I ran through the terminal, this big white dude, and showed up and presented myself as Yang.

At Hartford, learned there was a Greyhound strike. No rides anywhere, no money. Hitched a ride on a rig to Port Authority, which was pretty sketchy in those days. Promptly got mugged for $20.

Then another hitch to Allentown (I used to change to buy donuts for the truck driver as gratitude/payment), and from there, 2 suitcases in hand, on Carl Bieber Tourways to Philly. (a relative paid for tix).

The bus was coming up near the terminal on 10th and Filbert, and I saw the signs for those peepshows that used to be there at 11th and Market (or somewhere there). It meant to say "Live Sexy", but the y had fallen off.

Two days traveling, no money, I remember this rush of emotion. Like, ok, this is where I wanna be.

I could write an encyclopedia of Philly sleaze off the top of my head.
