I know it is very early yet, but that is part of the fun.

Anyone willing to offer any predictions of where Flyers will finish in standings and anything else you care to soothsay about re: team? (Who will win Bobby Clarke, overall attendance figures, if CF stays for 23-24, Hart's sv % and whatever else you can think of).

We can bookmark this page and compare end of season.

Frost isn't going anywhere. Cates will be moved back to wing where he belongs.
- MBFlyerfan

Nah, c'mon. With this team's abundance of young skilled talent, Frost is a candidate to be moved. Thank goodness that Claude Giroux is gone so now the team can start winning and all the locker room cancers are finally removed. That is what we have learned today.

I agree with Brown, he is an AHLer.

I think Cates gets moved to 4th or wing, they have invested too much into Frost to 4th line.

- WhiskeyMan

They are also invested in Cates as well. Moving Cates to a 4th line role at this time would be moronic.

Cates is playing more minute than Frost for whatever that is worth.

Any thoughts on the Sanheim ext?

Will you be dressing up as Ron Hextall this hallowen? Or keep it simple with Cliff Claven?

So you believe that the Flyers are in a position to move Frost as a team lacking in skilled talent?
- MJL

Not now, but if/when Couts comes back and is a regular in the lineup, and Brown comes back to anchor the 4th line, then yes I can see Frost being moved. I mean what else do you do with Frost? Maybe wing? But you also at some point will have Atkinson and Tippet coming back.

This is not what I read from the comment Tort's is making about N Cates. Things can change of course.

When a very good, experienced player comes in from another team and within 1 season states there is a country club atmosphere on this team, how is that not lay on the shoulders of the player wearing the 'C'?

BTW, don't waste your time with Halloween Ends, a very disappointing conclusion to what was shaping up to be a very good trilogy.

So is Atkinson on the path like Ellis to LTIR? I believe if he is not back on the ice by Christmas, I will get concerned abour his career continuing.

Again, you believe the Flyers have a surplus of young skilled talent that there won't be a spot for Frost? I just want to be clear and at least try and lead you in the right direction.

very concerning ... though wouldn't it be just like Fletcher to luck into getting out from under another large contract?

The one certainty with the Flyers is that the entire roster will never be available. So when someone returns, someone else will have been or will soon be injured. For years I put my favorite lineup on paper at season's start, and it never, ever gets on the ice.

Bill what are your thoughts on Cates so far as a center? Do you see them keeping him there or will this be a short experiment?
- furio16

Tortorella is driving that bus and seems committed to it. I understand way. He can handle a center's responsibilities. My concern is this: One of the main strengths of his game is that he an excellent F1 on the forecheck. As a center, you're never the F1, and you're usually the last forward to leave the D zone. In terms of structure, though, and helping in every zone, I see why they did it when they are so thin at center and prefer Laughton on wing to C.

Does PT21 have a rule about being condescending towards another poster? :-)

There is no doubt that Tort's is setting a tone here, but I don't believe under AV or Yeo that their intention was to have a country club, and even if it were true professional athletes would never allow it. That is where the player wearing the 'C' comes in.
