True. I have always felt that Kane and Toews may want to extend and finish their careers here rather than chase a 4th Cup. Personal feelings about their dedication to the franchise, familiarity with the city, family life, etc. will play into their decisions. - boilermaker100
I’ve always thought 88 would stay his entire career and go after Stan’s record. He also might be willing to ‘endure’ this season for the opportunity to play with Reichel or Bedard, or whomever else, next year. He did pretty well helping to develop Panarin & DeBrincat. He could have the chance to do it again. |

This sounds good but I'm guessing you cannot promise contracts for next year (tampering) but could say "if you reach free agency, be sure to take our calls".
I think with Kane, assuming he is traded and then reaches free agency, Kyle should try to sign him back for one year and overpay a bit on salary to get him. So maybe $10.5m, 1 year, NMC. Then re-run the scenario from this year, and get a return for him next year at the deadline (if he wants to go to a contender). Maybe do the same thing in 2024-25 also.
Kane would be back home in Chicago for 2023-24 with a nice salary, and control whether he goes to a contender at the deadline. - totem
Has there ever been a tampering case in the NHL? This is a league where players from other teams openly text each other daily. They all know what's going on with other teams. And at the end of the season they go to tournaments like the World Championships and hang around together.
So if there are rules about tampering, they definitely aren't enforced. Even the owners quietly threaten revenge on each other if offer sheets are extended to players. Nothing said or done about that.
So Kane or Toews could accept a trade one day, report to their new teams and tell the media what their plans were for the following season and no league official would say boo about it. |

To be entirely fair, Panarin didn't need much 'development' -pretty much none. It was a pretty cool thing to watch as there weren't many that expected what happened -right off the bat -and I think the Hawks mostly deliberately shielded him from much exposure to the league in that initial pre-season after coming over. |

Well by definition, you aren't going to get close to a #7 pick because the trade will be with a Stanley cup contender, which means #26 or above. - LAHawk
Agree, he'll be going to a contender which means a low 1st rd pick. Assuming Kane is healthy I think we see a low 1st rd pick and a blue chip prospect coming back. Worse case scenario is a low 1st rd pick and lower rd picks and or lesser prospects.
But if Kaner agrees to go to more than one team (two or three of CAR-NYR-PIT-TOR-COL-surprise team or two) we could see a bidding war of sorts which in theory will drive the price up a bit.

When Stan Bowman signed Panarin, he described him as the Russian Patrick Kane. |

Vlasic sent to Rockford. Would of happened sooner if not for the injuries to the D. |

Nazar to have surgery and be out an undisclosed amount of time, maybe whole season.
Powers at the Athletic with the story, quote from Michigan coach:
“It stinks not to have Frankie Nazar in the lineup,” Naurato said. “He’s a special kid. He’s a great player for Michigan down the road, great player for the Blackhawks. Just hope he gets better soon, but I’m sure he’ll come out stronger from this and learn a little bit (about himself). It’s not some crazy injury that somebody hasn’t had, but I think it makes you appreciate your body. If you can do that at an earlier age versus later, I think that’s an advantage.”
A lot of cryptic information without much detail. Hope the kid recovers well from it. Did say it was lower body. |

Steelheads coach James Richmond says captain Ethan Del Mastro, who scored the game winner today is a “Bull” out there: “If he’s not the best defensive defenceman in Canada at his age, I don’t know who is.” #ohl #steelheads #blackhawks |

Nice to see Dach score the OT winner. Find myself rooting for many 3 point games this year. |

We'll see, maybe it's a conditioning stint before they bring him back up |
