I have a friend who left that game at 0-5.

Like Wilt's 100 point game. 10,000 people have claimed to see it live despite it being in a 4,000 seat arena.
The Bell Center seats 21,000 but one day 30,000 will have been at that game. |

he hasn't looked liked anything because he hasn't played yet...
but yes, that was a turrible trade, among other multiple turrible trades that didn't involve a QC-born player. the Louis Leblanc pick would probably be a better example of an attempt to please the hardcore "we absolutely need francophones on the team" portion of habs fans. |

This is clearly going to take time, a lot of deadwood on this team. |

I didn't liked the trade at the time not because I didn't liked Drouin, but because the team was sending away their best prospect at the time, and they were already thin on defense in term of prospects
Bergevin probably already knew Radulov wasn't coming back so he felt he needed to acquire a forward. |

Yep, it was to be expected ... HuGo can't make miracles happen in one year.
Growing pains. |

that awfully sounds like that time when he didn't sign Markov and went on giving a contract to Karl Alzner instead

he cannot trade the awful contracts before the tdl, we all know that,
but he can send Xhekaj and Slafkovsky to Laval where they belong.
development! |

I'm sure that will happen soon enough ... Slaf needs ice time and Laval would be best for him this year. Same goes for Xman. |

but that raises a question about the coach and gm judgement.
how could they think the best place for these 2 kids was in Mtl?
they're supposed to know stuff right? I mean, they're supposed to know a lot more than you and me.
that is not really reassuring tbh. |

It's only game 2 ...
They (HuGo) probably want to see how they react to NHL competition, the kids will also get a better idea of what they need to work on in Laval.
Just my guess. |

yup, this makes sense 100%, especially since it was mentioned before the season began that development would be the main focus for this year, so there's no surprise at all here with giving him a solid chance in MTL.

I would bet a twoonie that Slaf will be sent to Laval once the team gets back to Montreal after tomorrow. |

I was under the impression they'd give him the 9 games he's eligible to, but yeah that isn't impossible either. |

he's not eligible to 9 games. that is for junior players. Slaf will play either in Mtl or in Laval, so his pro contract starts right now. |

no, the only thing important is what is the best way to develop him?
certainly not having him play 9 min per game in Mtl. send him to Laval, let him play 20 mins per game, PP, PK... maybe pair him with his body Mesar. (if he stays in Laval) have them live together too. |
