I think the issue is EP’s release is too slow and he doesn’t move enough. Agreed. I almost wonder if Miller and EP should switch sides sometimes to mix
It up

"We just had 8 PP's where we pretty much cycled around 3 players and Oilers systematically destroyed it. Every team will see what they did and look to do the same thing. It may not be as easy once the season gets going, but these are pro's and can adjust pretty easily to something like this."

Is what you said. Unless you're talking about the other team's pros who can adjust, but the Canucks are pros and can adjust as well..? Sure they follow a blue print, but it's a pretty league-wide blueprint, and King isn't out there telling them how to shoot and pass. Not that I love their powerplay or am defending King, and I think it could be better, I'm just not decrying the whole season because of one game after they were 9th overall last season.

Also, you said "It may not be as easy once the season gets going, but these are pro's and can adjust pretty easily to something like this." Is it not easy, or is it easy?

- NewYorkNuck

Sorry, I guess I should elaborate for idiots. Pro's can quickly adjust to a new system their coach implements to shut down a PP or style of play even without much or any practice.

Sure our guys are pro's but King doesn't change anything from what Brown taught him and seems to have no idea what he is doing. The goal Kuzmenko got is proof our guys can adjust, scoring off the rush like that. But in 7 other PPs we did it how King drew it up, and couldn't adjust because our PP coach sucks.

League wide blueprint? I see most top teams cycling with 5 guys moving their feet and passing in-between each other. I see them moving around so that the defenders get out of position. We don't do that. Petey and Miller go to the same spot, Hughes goes to the same spot, and they pass between each other looking for the perfect shot before losing it. Starting the year 1 for 8 and 1 short handed goal against is not a good way to start the season.

Celebrate with us as Kevin Bieksa signs a one-day contract to retire from the NHL as a Vancouver Canuck.”

lol but I'm not generalizing and marginalizing this 'it's Boeser or Horvat' or bust thing. Sure the cap is tight having said that there are many moves MNGT could make to accomodate a decent Horvat contract. Bieksa may have been alot of things and sure like most players he picked and chose his moments, but I'd take his toughness anyday over what Bo is providing on ice right now. Remember, we were losing both Miller and Boeser because of the cap too!!

That was a want.... not a cap casualty

No one said that... we said he was unproven... and don't get too high about games against weak offensive teams.... Chicago is tanking, probably the worst team in league, and LA isn't a powerhouse and scored 3 on him.

Right, so what you're saying is the one game where they went 1 for 8 has more weight to it than last season where King was in charge and they finished 9th in the league?

I'm not even saying I like King or the PP as it is. I'm just not standing on the (frank)ing ledge after one game where the players on the ice couldn't even adjust themselves – blame King as much as you want for the system and in-game adjustments, but it's also on the players (the quickly adjusting pros) to see something isn't working 6 times and try to not do the same (frank)ing thing again

Maybe King should have jumped on the ice to stop the shorty himself?

What would happen to the oilers if mcdavid got injured long term? Canucks outplayed them I thought, lots of chances. Special teams need to be better, high stick on Hughes they didn’t call changed the game, oilers were undisciplined, short handed goal near the end of the second hurt. Should have never lost this game but it was entertaining.

Quicker release, more accurate and definitely harder. Players that have a better shot than Brock:

Miller
Pouty
Kuzy
Pod

Brocks biggest issue is it takes 30 sec to get the shot off

I liked him last year, looked better than Lehner. But we still need a bigger sample size

I'll give you the quicker release for Miller and Petey. But that's it. Brocks shot is good just takes him forever to get it off lol
