Interesting how Yahoo is different than NHL.com, naturalstattrick, espn, bleacher report and the score for Kuzmenko ice time. Anywho.

Kuzmenko had the better game for sure. He didn't have to play with Miller except for the power play.

Miller played the most against McDavid 5v5 though, not going to help his winger Boeser's stat sheet in anyway.

The "stanchion" canucksarmy report there with all of Miller's give aways in that game. Technically 3 give aways in his stats but who knows how many passes to no one.

three? He had three on his first shift of the second period alone.

Curious... how many teams have that defenseman who can "shoot the puck" like that anymore?

Toronto was #1 last year.. Morgan Reilly?
St Lou #2.... Krug?
Edmonton #3... Barrie?
Rangers #4... Adam Fox?

Don't seem like the Salo or Weber type bombs anymore.

- NewYorkNuck

Present day it's Hedman.

John Carlson next up behind Hedman these days.

Sorry, I was wrong. Petey had 3 give aways, Miller had 2 and Horvat 1. No other Canuck forward was credited with a give away. Miller throws the puck to absolutely no one a lot of the time but that's not a "giveaway" I guess.

That stat is tracked terribly, same with takeaways. Each building’s stat person judges them differently.

Miller's going to frustrate the shit out of me this season. I can see it coming already. Fuck that contract...

https://camcharron.com/20...ilers-5-2022-10-12-recap/

A recap of analytics from the game. From some guy I've never heard of before.

From these numbers, next game swapping Boeser and Garland on the forward lines and Rathbone for Stillman.

Proven in game 1, they need more from their D. (I know, I'm as shocked as the rest to find this out)

I thought Miller was a give-away machine last night. Some of his decision making and passing was cringe inducing.
- bloatedmosquito

He had one moronic giveaway. Most of his were on the PP when OEL wasn’t in position

All due to OEL not being in Hughes spot. That’s communication/ coaching

Ya, of course there are a couple... I'm just saying that having a big heavy shot doesn't mean success (TB was 7th, Washington was 23rd), where the top powerplays don't need a big heavy shot to be the best. I think it's a fallacy to say they need one to be successful

They had the 9th best PP last year, but okay.. definitely don't overreact
- NewYorkNuck

We just had 8 PP's where we pretty much cycled around 3 players and Oilers systematically destroyed it. Every team will see what they did and look to do the same thing. It may not be as easy once the season gets going, but these are pro's and can adjust pretty easily to something like this.

Stop being cowards and join the yahoo pool, we got 8 teams so far, draft is tonight at 7pm and winner gets $50, 2nd place gets to pick out my next avatar

I'm cool with rolling with 8 teams, but 10 would be cool.

I mean I watched Garland blindly throw it to his own wing, luckily it exited the zone.

Wait, are you saying they're screwed because teams will copy Edmonton and the Canucks will be systematically destroyed? Or are you saying the Canucks are pros and can adjust pretty easily to it?

'Cause you're sorta saying both...

Good to see the excuses fly after the first game. Should be a fun season.
- Marwood

Yeah, all of that could be summed up in one sentence. The Canuck's special teams failed.

No need to work on that in the preseason with that game against the Oiler's where Canuck's dressed an AHL team against an NHL team. The game ended up full of calls.. Remember folks, the preseason is meaningless.

I'm sure they can move him if/when it gets to that point. I think Mikheyev will also be a good addition.
- VanHockeyGuy

I feel he'll play less than 55 games.

Hopefully those 2 points don't bite us in the ass for playoff positioning.

More likely to see it from the forwards who shoot from the circles these days.

Don't know. It's only one game. Time will tell... Need to improve on the special teams before we start talking playoffs though. I already made my prediction. One game isn't changing it.

Agreed. The give away stat doesn't show how bad he handled the puck the entire game. Those passes to no one that the Canucks scrambled to recover etc don't exactly help the team. The poop passes to team mates, same thing....
