I agree with your addition by subtraction theory on the blue line. I had that same mind set when we signed Chara to begin with

It was very frustrating to deal with all the people that were excited about us signing him.. He was 45 years old and horrific in Washington. Why did they expect him to do well here? There are still people who think he "wasn't the issue" .. he was a traffic cone. How was he not the issue?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U29GqFvz9FE It's not like we didn't see first hand that Chara was no longer the Chara we knew in his Ottawa or early Boston years.

I don’t have an answer for you. I said it the day we signed him that he was terrible in Washington and the only use for him was as a 7th D man if that. I think most of us knew he wouldn’t play that role. It seemed the priority was to get him over the number of games played hump for a while instead of team performance. It’s no secret that Lameriello has loyalty to vets and there are times, imo, that trait is a negative for the team sometimes. Greene is another example. Useful player for a couple of seasons but we seem to have a hard time moving on when it’s obviously time to do so.

Looks like the opening night roster is pretty much set. Curious if Wahlstrom is a little more banged up than they initially made it sound and needs more time or if Lambert is actually just sitting him

I wonder if they are just being extra cautious with Olli and basically giving Bellows one last chance to see if he can stick. If Soshnikov impresses he might stick and they waive Bellows when everybody is healthy. Who knows

Maybe, but I don't think they really have too much time to be experimenting after last year's debacle.

If Wahlstrom is still recovering that's fine. If Lambert doesn't like his game, that's more problematic. If they're just hoping everything magically clicks for Bellows and giving him "one last chance" then that's the most problematic, in my opinion.

I like to think that's the reason but like you said if it's because Wahlstrom has been meh then yes that's a bigger concern for sure because they need him to take the next step

Hope the forecast is correct for tomorrow and the Yanks game is postponed. I would hate to have to flick back and forth for two and half hours

Seems like a challenge with these young forwards. Is it bad drafting or bad development?

Nice Yankee win Vukota. My Mets offense went in the tank like the Islanders. It's also tough having two top line starting pitchers that are old and banged up.

Not saying Wahlstrom is a bust(who knows maybe he will be) but they don’t always hit. Dobson seems to be doing ok.

Agreed if there were ever a season this team needs to have all of their ducks in a row it would be this one. They need to come out swinging and string some wins together early on. After that last game I assumed bellows would get a little longer if look. He was pretty good. Not saying it will translate to anything but I assumed it would be the case.

Drafting these 18 year old players is really tough. I usually do not give the GM's a hard time unless it's a clear miss. Islanders have had more luck with drafting dmen. They missed on plenty of goalies until Sorokin. I do think Barry's system really helped the defensemen.

Unfortunately, the Astros aren't losing another game the rest of the postseason after yesterday's comeback

Everyone misses on goalies. Look at the goalies drafted in the first round even they have a low nhl conversion rate. It’s pretty much par for the course with the nhl draft. Helluva lot more misses then home runs.

I'd rather lose to the god damn Guardians than the Astros, I (frank)ing hate that organization so much

Who the (frank) are the guardians? Never heard of that one new team? I don’t follow baseball. At all.

I'll accept a loss if they send Cole out there to fire a full-speed four-seamer right at that midget Altuve's face

It's impressive the work Jimmy D did for the Isles back in the day. I know things were different. Even David Conte with the Devils did a great job with the Devils and Lou. I'm tougher on the GM's in terms of trades and signing FA's than the draft.
