only a matter of time before people identify this guy...he will get his moment, probably not what he was expecting though.

What he said is truly bizarre.

And then the home opener on Thursday against...

...Washington.

WTF?

Two of the best goal scorers of their generations, a relatively recent playoff foe and former Cup champ...pretty decent match-up.

I don't recall that - but I don't think so. They could have changed the clause, but the specifics of the clause are 10 games or 24 days of the NHL Season. That doesn't begin until October 7. So I suppose they could come back on November 1, but we don't play that day - we play on the 2nd, which is also the 11th game, so it's sort of moot either way.

I think it had to do with David Clarkson or maybe Robidas - we were over the 10% overage during the summer, and people were calling for the Leafs to be fined, and then it was explained that you could have guys on LTIR during the summer.

I'm going to bet this guy doesn't have to worry about any employers getting wind of this.

So apparently you can put a guy on LTIR during the summer.

This thread goes into details, but about two paragraphs in, my eyes glazed over and I gave up.

Was it just me, or were others offended by what a god-awful knock-off of a jersey he was wearing?

We get it and understand that Scabeh doesn’t reflect the Habs fan base. How is Komi, by the way?

I'm guessing it was a Sens fan, trying to make Leafs fans look bad.

Made it half way to the office (well had to drive around the block a few times to finish it off and pretend I had a coke problem to hid the icing sugar issues)

We have discussed this type of thing in the past.

You are allowed to be 10% over the cap until the first day of the regular season (October 7). Players cannot be placed on LTIR in the off-season, however it was determined that year that if a player has a known medical condition that already precludes the player from starting the year, they can be considered as an LTIR exemption to the 10% rule during the off-season - but it does not mean that the LTIR allocation for the NHL season should be exempted. Any player who begins the season in LTIR, would be expected to do so for the 10 games or 24 day period from the start of the regular season.

As an example to the above - let's say that John Tavares had a terrible leg break boating during the summer - but the Leafs were at $84m on the cap; they would typically be limited to a maximum of $90.75m, which is $82.5m + 10% of 82.5m. There is no legitimate way for them to seek a replacement player of equivalent value to the player they have lost - so they could provide the medical evidence which would allow them to go above the 10% cap ceiling because of the known injury. Other teams like Chicago and Tampa have done this in the past as well.

So do Benn and Dahlstrom, both injured during preseason and presumably eligible for LTIR.

Pretty sure that guy spends his nights on the street. In Toronto even our homeless population rock $300 jerseys and pumped up kicks.

A homeless guy on Queen Street asked me for money - said he hadn't had charcuterie in three days.

I gave him $120.

So this is a twist: draft dodgers fleeing to the States. Two Russians took a boat and made it to an island in Alaska.

I had a colleague in mtl who showed up one day at 8am with Baos. It was weird but after a moment of reflection it was awesome.
