Telus and Canadian Tire, two of it's biggest sponsors.. Hockey Canada needs a teardown.. Fire everyone and start over

According to andrea skinner, the execs cant all be fired as hockey as we know it would cease to exist across the country.
It would be "fire and brimstone coming down from the skies...rivers and seas boiling....dogs and cats living together...mass hysteria"

It should always be the Habs. Always.

But OK, we play them the night before, so it has to be somebody else. Fine.

But FFS, make it an Original Six team, or Vancouver, or Ottawa, or Buffalo, or Philly.

Those are the teams that make the building electric.

- Atomic Wedgie

Oilers would have been a nice opener too.

The NFL and NBA set their schedules so much better.

Or maybe Bettman is intrigued by the Samsonov redemption narrative.

Did my ticket draft last night.

Last game picked?

Sunday, January 29th at 5 pm vs. Washington.

I guess they figured that nobody in Canada likes the NFL.

Agreed. Cup champs should play the opening night at home every year. Have their banner raising ceremony

Ya, 5pm seems ambitious ...wonder if the league will back that up.

I had a tough time this year. I'm away in November and January and the Leafs have a glut of home games both months.

I seem to recall that a few years ago, we were able to retroactively put a player on LTIR through training camp, so they didn't have to start the LTIR clock at the start of the season.

Is this ringing bells for anyone?

- Atomic Wedgie

I don’t know about that but they can put Benn and Dahlstrom on LTIR effective day one of the season as well as Lilligren. I don’t know how that helps them.

But Pridham knows

If (as expected) the Bills make it to the AFC finals, the ACC is going to be empty.

100 years ago (Sundin era), Mrs. Wedgie and I went to see the Leafs in New Jersey. It was the NFL Conference Finals, and the Giants were in it, so they announced they would play the football game on the Jumbotron after the Leafs-Devils game.

Willie’s been the best Leaf by a long shot. The goalies have been good. More depth/better bottom six. Nickie pushing hard. Malgin playing well. Cliffy and Simmonds probably on their way out.

Not sure anyone can carry Kampf’s weight around the ice like Mikey or Engvall. ( in the bottom 6 )

Engvall stays is my guess.

I don't recall that - but I don't think so. They could have changed the clause, but the specifics of the clause are 10 games or 24 days of the NHL Season. That doesn't begin until October 7. So I suppose they could come back on November 1, but we don't play that day - we play on the 2nd, which is also the 11th game, so it's sort of moot either way.

We get it and understand that Scabeh doesn’t reflect the Habs fan base. How is Komi, by the way?
