The NHL would not be happy if the final ended up as two Canadian clubs lol

I came up with a model that predicts one of the best teams in the standings recently will win the championship. I think I will have a good success rate in all sports.

I checked your math, and you forgot to carry the 67.

Blame Back to the Future, but everyone has the wild idea that DeLoreans were good cars.

They were absolute crap.

Nobody actually watches the Kings - I remember seeing numbers, and they were horrifically, shockingly low.

Obviously it would be best if the Leafs played an eastern seaboard US team - yeah, I know, it can't happen.

So go with Leafs vs. Chicago.

For the Leafs? They’re done adding upfront. They’re dumping bodies (in a non Lou kind of way, of course)

Yeah. Robertson is way out of our price range, too. He scored 41 last year. His next contract starts with an 8.5, if not a 9. The Stars owner has publicly said he wants Robertson to take 7m. That's PCP levels of dreamland.

Dallas has 11 forwards, 7 D, and 2 goalies right now - and that puts them at around $74m. Basically it's this - you assume that they demote Wedgewood and promote Khudobin (at some point; Khudobin may start the year on LTIR), they have about $8.8m to sign Robertson. That would leave them with no wiggle room, and a roster of 12F, 7D, and 2G. That even creates limitations like not having Dellandrea or Lundqvist on their roster - because those would add about $350k over their cheaper contemporaries.

He either gets moved or he settles on a bridge deal - that after a 40 goal season, he probably doesn't want to do, because if he scores 30 this year, it affects his negotiating power subsequently. If he isn't moved in the next 5 days, any new contract starts to become front loaded quickly and badly. Like . . .let's say you signed him to an 8.5x7 year deal on October 15 - that has a Cap Hit of $8.8m in year one, and $8.45m in the next 6 years. If it were $9mx8, the discrepancy is $9.35m in year one, and $8.95 in subsequent years. The discrepancy gets larger over longer periods - that's just one week.

We see here how just a $213k bonus carryover is causing some balancing headaches.

I’m kinda hoping it’s the leafs vs Colorado so they can win and keep the Avs from becoming back to back champs

It's completely sustainable to be constantly outplayed. Just ask Randy Carlyle, he'll tell you . . .what's that now? We did? Against who? When? With how much time left? Well. That's . . . you know, what? Nevermind.

So when Murray wins the Stanley Cup this year, does that pretty-much guarantee his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame?

What did Alek Manoah do Tuesday morning when it became clear he'll be making his playoff debut in Toronto in three days? “I’ve been watching Encarnacion’s walk off home run on repeat a good amount. It’s going to be pretty electric.” #Bluejays

I don't know if this is a verboten hot button issue or not, but I sincerely can't fathom why Hockey Canada is so insistent on keeping this executive board. It makes no sense. Scott Smith has been a senior executive through all of this - being a VP from 1996 - 2012, and then president from 2013 onwards until he was named CEO 3 months ago - despite all of the known history. It's legitimately stunning in terms of poor judgement or a lack of awareness of what the public feels.
