If you wanna side with whatever Claudefather was saying, that’s perfectly fine. The problem is, he’s putting words in my mouth within his argument. I never said anything about when a deal should take place whether it be offseason or trade deadline. I also never stated anything indicating how important a third round pick would be but with this franchise giving away picks like party favors, a third might be pretty important. Now I’m reading multiple posts saying not just today but all summer that JvR has no value, can’t be moved, nobody wants him. All it took was MJL stepping in after a 3 week absence and voicing that JvR does have value if he can score at last season’s rate (no matter how big or small the return) before many abandoning this theory. To me, that’s funny.

I feel like I need to make this clear. I don’t care what we get for JvR because do you know what the true value of a JvR trade is? Cap space. Cap relief. Getting these deals off the books.

Nate is a great player but he needs a supporting cast much more than Ovie does. Ovie had Kuznetsov and team players. Look what Nate had. The year before Nate got frustrated and couldn’t carry with Kadri out.

To be fair, in context, I don’t think he meant York has to do that all the time. Rather I think Torts meant York can do this at will in situations that momentum has shifted and the team needs a boost. A real in-game difference maker.

I don’t think I can answer the rest. I am not sure of York’s ceiling.
