The only one who has been tricked is yourself. JVR had no trade value over the summer that is a fact. We would have had to package him with an asset to get rid of him. In February, whenever the trade deadline is, he will get a very small return.
- ClaudeFather

Pretty much. That has been discussed plenty by numerous people. The question is what will be the return. Some have said a 2nd. To me his value will not change much no matter he if he has 10 or 20 goals. You will get a mid rd pick. Haven’t wavered on that at all.

He just looked kinda apprehensive and it led to misplays.

Maybe spooked by having Torts watching him.

- Tomahawk

Did you watch any of his interviews, pre/post games? He doesn’t seem comfortable at all, hesitant to speak almost, maybe he’s got some personal stuff going on

It’s a fairly simple concept. It’s not our fault you don’t understand. Whatever, we can move on
- ClaudeFather

You’re making stuff up. You’re trying to convince me I don’t know the value of a third round pick as if we’d be trading JvR for an orange. Then you turn it into a timing of trade argument, which nobody was talking about. I certainly didn’t say anything about the summer or trade deadline. What I find funny (which I’ve stated in clear and simple words) is that it wasn’t until MJL disagreed with those who stated JvR has no value, many of those people abandoned their beliefs to come to the other side of the argument. Even MJL said He has value if he scores at the rate he did last season. So obviously that means he has to play well this season in order to get moved.

There is zero misunderstanding here.

Yes surely sanheim is that caliber player. 🙄 now go look at the star players ages on those cup teams. How many 20/21/22 year olds driving the play? Oh none? So adding a sanheim caliber player does what to what to this team in 3/4 years? Oh nothing? K

Gibberish How old was McDonagh on that roster? 2nd most minutes on defense.

MJL literally Jedi mind tricked an entire board today.
- SuperSchennBros

No cap? Forget the Svengali stuff. Fletcher probably thinks he can get what he gave up in the Hanzal trade if he holds 50% of the 3 mil left on JVRs contract.

Hopefully the next ban will be six months.
- Robert's Plant

Why? So for six months we can read people b*tching and whining about MJL? No thanks.

I will be happy to point it out if you don’t see it.

York has been scrutinized all camp. Every mistake he has made has been highlighted.

Have other players been held to the same standard? Seems accountability doesn’t apply to all.

Wouldn’t have mattered imo. They liked who they took more.

Haha would have been even better if he slipped and they didn’t take him. This organization deserves much more ridicule than they have seen. I’m glad the national media has been laughing at them quite a bit. The country club has to see it.

You make it sound like he had a spot with his name on it guaranteed. Not that he is a rookie who has yet to make the NHL team out of camp.

The same standard is everyone giving all with a team first mindset. Some are obviously capable of more than others. It will take more time to see it (same standard) for vets as most did not play much in preseason. I believe you will see accountability.

Not making it sound like anything. There will be accountability for some not others. That is how I see it. We shall see if proven otherwise.

Even though I defend Torts for his reasons on sending York down because the mental maturity aspect matters. I cannot defend the organization as a whole for their continued mixed messages to prospects.

https://www.nbcsports.com...r-cuts-puzzling-move-team

Lappy says York needs to make the safe play routinely.

Torts says York needs to push the envelope with breakouts and going on the attack, lead the offense.

This messaging is confusing, and it must be addressed.

I agree. It's puzzling. I didn't see him play but by some reports he has struggled some. He played 30 games last season and didn't look like he couldn't play in the NHL. So what changed? What had got him mentally confused or lacking confidence now? A player has to earn a spot but they need to figure out the cause of this and if it is external, they need to fix it.

Who would you rather have in their prime, MacKinnon or Ovechkin?

Yeah, IDK but not everything can be fixed. It does need to be identified and dealt with though. York is not being sent to the AHL to be brushed under the rug. The prospects and anyone part of the future needs to be back on the rails this season. They have to find out what is here moving forward. And I expect a vastly improved Phantoms team this year—nothing less than a playoff contender should be acceptable.

The whole “accountability” and “play the right way” thing is great but, and I can’t stress this enough, at some point you need to put pucks in the net. You need skill, talent and all that stuff they rarely talk about.

If any of the beats had a pair, they should be asking Chuck Fletcher questions like:
Who on this team is the opposition worrying about and game planning for?

With a lineup featuring quite a few players who’ve never had any sustained success at the NHL levels, why should we expect this team to come even remotely close to a playoff spot?

Knowing that Carter Hart has dealt with various injuries the last 2 seasons, why did you not acquire a proven NHL goalie to pair with him? And if cap space is the issue, then why did you spend 1.75 million on a 4th line player?

It is really close, but with no other known players on this imaginary team, I’d say Ovechkin.

No but what causes a player to regress like this? It's concerning and it seems to be an organizational wide issue and happens with a high level of frequency.

For sure, and they need to identify why.
