The prime of players is no longer 26-30. It’s more 24-28.

We have top end talent in that age range.

Maybe hart?
Maybe bee?

They aren’t anywhere near player ability of cup winners.

We need top end and elite and young

Plain and simple. That’s how you win cup. Yes you need other things too for sure but without elite and top end talent you aren’t winning. Plain and simple.

Capped out and old. Burn it to ground includes those that are in that 24-28 range. They aren’t gonna be relevant even if we get the elite talent over next few years.

Or price will keep team capped out with no flexibility

- SMS4016

Your argument isn’t about a players prime or when their ceiling can be seen. It’s about not fitting among a cup winning roster due to age. I notice you didn’t show any recent cup rosters. Here you go:

More disappointment from young prospects, nothing to see here
- ClaudeFather

very true, the only prospects who looked like they truly belonged was Noah Cates and Ersson. I'm disappointed with Foerster the most, and I am genuinely concerned about York.

Tortorella says that Attard and Zamula will probably go down at the end of camp. He thinks they both still need work. "But if you think I'm gonna send down Attard today after what he did yesterday, standing in there with Johnston (in a fight), you're crazy."

This team is a joke. A once proud franchise, the Flyers are now the Kansas City Scouts of the 21st century. Well done, Cuck.

Ristolainen didn't get worse. He is and was the exact same player he was advertised to be. It didn't take 70 games to see it. It took 10 at the most. His decent games were few and far in between. Someone who knows the goods when he sees it does not need a full season to see it.

How can you say you don't like the re-signing and say you don't have an issue with the player? That doesn't add up.

- MJL

Sure it adds up! What if the Flyers re-signed Risto 4 years at $4M per, which is what Adam Larsson signed for in Seattle? I think then the conversation is very, very different. My point is for what Risto brings to the team, Fletcher is a baffoon to allocate that kind of money towards IMO. Now I suspect Torts and Shaw will coach him up a bit, but I don't see Risto ever living up to a $5M defenseman, at least by today's standards.

This is not an isolated incident of flawed player evaluation. It is a repeated pattern.
- MJL

really? So what other players have I been wrong about?

Everything everyone is saying to him now, I literally used the exact same words three days ago.
- SuperSchennBros

What I don't understand is why its so hard to believe someone can reevaluate their position and even change their position based on evidence that they value? Oh forgive me, didn't mean to talk over your head, what I mean is, why is so bad to change my mind on a player after seeing a good sample size of what he is and how he plays?

Again, I’m not gonna harp on Ristolainen as long as we have Hayes on this team.
- SuperSchennBros

And BTW, I didn't disagree with you about Hayes, in fact I literally posted that Hayes played like he had been out drinking the night before. But this does not mean Risto looked good in the game, because IMO he clearly didn't.

Well, an entire season of nonstop defending and claims of our best D and one of the better Dmen in the league. It’s insane you can’t see this.

If it was anyone else, sure. Not this guy. He fought tooth and nail all season that Risto was a good player, he never saw a difference but just went to the other side after all the laughing. And now makes snarky posts about the player which is absolutely absurd after a year of defending.
- ClaudeFather

This is absolutely not true. What I fought were specific instances where goals against where being blamed solely on Risto, when it was crystal clear to anyone who actually has played the game that there were defensive break-downs all over the ice! Go look back if you want proof, my arguments, mostly with MJL were around analysis of specific goals against. Its so easy to blame one player but the truth is the entire team played with no structure and no defensive discipline!

Funniest part is that this likely means that Connauton would make the team, and Seeler's in the starting lineup

This is absolutely a false narrative, I never posted these things. I did say Risto over a 2 week period was the Flyer's best defenseman early in the season and I still believe that to be true. Of course, think about it, is this really saying much?

I'm not even shocked.

Granted York hasn't been exactly overwhelming. I guess we should get used to this kind of honesty from Torts. Agree or not.

Deslauriers and MacEwen did a really great job protecting their rookie teammate from a veteran goon. Money well spent by Chuck.

Have been a tough critic of Frost,
I have been so wrong in that myopic view of one player and the hope he becomes something.

I see JD and Sargent MJ continuing their masters thesis on the suck of RR.

It's not just one or two or three or four players.
This franchise is rotten from top to bottom including the core.

It was but just let him play, there is nothing to lose at this point. In fact after getting smokes on that goal, probably better to leave him stay

Sanheim specific, better skaters age better, Sanheim fits that, add he struggles to add weight. Age, adds weight, he will get better if he continues his path

Don't believe for a minute that Chuck and Torts have actually transitioned to a rebuild mindset.

They're gonna put together the lineup that gives them the best chance today. Both of their jobs are on the line.

Tomorrow is a distant consideration.
