Hayes didn't cost a 1st and a 2nd, plus the 2nd they paid to get rid of Ghost, plus Hagg who was worth a 6th at the trade deadline.
- Feanor

That’s a Fletcher problem. Not a Ristolainen problem.

Absolutely doesn’t fit this teams timeline. Same goes for provy tk risto even hart. Anyone in that 25-26 year old range now doesn’t match a timeline 3+years down the line. Not with this poop team.

Absolutely untrue to argue against keeping 24-26 year olds solely because of their age. Have you even looked at the ages of entire rosters that have won the Stanley Cup in the last 10 years. Not all the impact players are 29 or older, but some most definitely are plus many supporting players. Such a weird idea.

I cannot believe people think jvr has trade value. He is an under water asset. Even on the trade deadline of his final year

yeah I mentioned this a few weeks ago - I would love to see which team thinks JVR is the player that puts you over the top

Yeah but who plays ahead of him? Nick Seeler?

Hahahaha. Sanheim will get 7 or 8 years.
- Feanor

Honestly that’s fine. If the salary is lower. If he gets 7/8 years on this contract at 5 mil per year that’s fine. That’s manageable in the future. Is that likely? Most likely not. Therefore you have to trade him. He’d get a late 1st rounder on a team ready to win now. Let them sign him to the long term bigger money.

Hmmmmm sounds like coots

Yeah, Seeler. lol.

Attard probably gained a whole bunch of brownie points courtesy of Ross Johnston's fist.

And Zamula's still in camp too, but they've never really seemed to like him that much, so I expect he'll be gonzo soon too.

I had Willman pegged for the team. The forwards might actually see some new faces. The Cates brothers hopefully, possibly Allison. I really hope Mac sees the press box

I hate watching both Seeler and Attard play. Like I hate seeing their numbers on the ice. For those who hate Ristolainen for whatever flaws he actually has or whatever they can make up, these are the two guys I absolutely cannot stand watching.

Gonna be at least one Cates and Hodgson making the team, I'd reckon. Just based on how much ice time and opportunity those guys have earned in preseason. Frost is a lock.

It feels to me like MacEwen and Allison are probably headed to waivers.

Feel like both Cates have showed enough to make the team. Allison has been sloppy. Wouldn’t be surprised with Hodgson.

I think Allison and both Cates make the final roster.

The prime of players is no longer 26-30. It’s more 24-28.

We have top end talent in that age range.

Maybe hart?
Maybe bee?

They aren’t anywhere near player ability of cup winners.

We need top end and elite and young

Plain and simple. That’s how you win cup. Yes you need other things too for sure but without elite and top end talent you aren’t winning. Plain and simple.

Capped out and old. Burn it to ground includes those that are in that 24-28 range. They aren’t gonna be relevant even if we get the elite talent over next few years.

Or price will keep team capped out with no flexibility

This is not an isolated incident of flawed player evaluation. It is a repeated pattern.
- MJL

To be clear I knew very little about Risto when the Flyers traded for him. I don't watch or follow the freak'n Buffalo Sabres after all. However I made the mistake of trusting that Fletcher and his staff did know about him and felt there was more there than the obvious advanced metrics deficiencies. So I gave him a shot and early on he looked good as I said, but as the season wore on it became clearer and clearer to me the best move for the Flyers was to trade Risto at the deadline. Alas, they didn't and here we are with probably a 60 point team and negative cap space.
