Can’t wait to see key players get hurt the first week of the regular season because they’re not in game shape. So Hart and Atkinson will be fine for the opener? Yeah, and I have some prime real estate in the Everglades to sell ya.
What a friggin mess. - BiggE
So right!
How are they going to be expected to ramp up to full speed NHL hockey with minimal games played. It goes against all hockey logic.

Would you trust chuckles to orchestrate a Lindros type trade? - corduroy
No. But would he have a job in that event?

If that fails, he can replace Risto in 5. - Minnyhock

He’s the best player on the ice at times but he really has not shown consistency. Can’t see him outplaying that contract, if anything he just lives up to it. Kind of have to consider contracts now tho, Ottawa kids all got paid big money. Mackinnon damn near $13M. Matthews going to reset the market shortly as well. - ClaudeFather
Yep. The Isles are gambling he will develop that consistency. He is fun to watch when he wants to be.

Any player who's injured and comes back in the regular season has to do the same thing. Unless they get an AHL conditioning stint, which is rare.

Any insight why Ginning or Hogberg didn't get into any action over these 2 stiffs:
24 Nick Seeler - 37 Louie Belpedio - furio16
Seeler will make the NHL squad as the 7th D.
The other 3 are all going to be in the AHL and I don't think it moves the needle any which way regardless of which one would play tonight. But Belpedio has had a respectable camp and, let's be honest, he's a Brent guy drafted and developed in the Wild system. The Flyers often sign former Minnesota/Iowa players for the Phantoms. |

Barzal 8 years $9.15mil per. Yowza that is a lot of money for a guy that has not produced at a point per game pace in four years. I guess we will see if it was the Trotz effect. - mickel25
Hayes got 7 years $7.14 million for scoring 229 points in 382 games = 0.6 P/GP.
Barzal has scored 311 points in 360 games = 0.86 P/GP.

I don't mind Seeler as the 7th dman, but if he plays ahead of York after the team claimed they are going to play the kids, then online fans are going to lose their goddamn minds. |

Exactly Seeler is the 7th dman. So let one of those 2 play instead. Ginning they signed brought over and not giving him any pre-season games is odd to me seeing he has played pro hockey in Europe.
Fair enough in bold. Love nepotism.

This franchise should be happy that it has any fans at all right now.
anybody willing to waste their time watching this mess on the ice has a certain level of fan in them |

They're just the fans who are lame enough to complain about the team on twitter/Facebook/Reddit, or the real losers who still post on hockey message boards. |

I know everyone wants to blame the medical staff for all the injuries the Flyers receive, but to be fair I just injured my shoulder watching the last game. Day to day if anyone is wondering.
Can't be the team, it's just bad luck. |

The GM feels differently. So why not play him. Again it is odd to me as he isn't some 18 year old.

Understood but, long summer off plus no minimum of games is a horse of a different color.

Prosser, Seeler, Belpedio, Kurtis Gabriel, Stewart, Cal O'Reilly...
Chuck only has love for his former scrubs.

I know you're just being funny, but what's the medical staff really have to do with the players getting hurt? Aren't they just responsible for evaluating and treating injuries after they happen? Are you suggesting the players are getting poor medical treatment after the injuries occur? I don't know much about the inner workings of the team, but from a quick look at the doctors listed as "Team Medical Staff" on the Flyer's website there's nothing suspect looking (maybe the dentist looks a little shady?). They are all qualified and experienced doctors. All from Penn. They have two Internists, two Orthopaedic Surgeons and a dentist on staff. I'm guessing some of them are on-hand at the games for emergencies, but other than that are used as advisors mostly. Don't pro players all end up going to pretty much the same specialists for really serious injuries and surgeries?
Are you talking about the training staff? I can see the guys who are responsible for preparing the players physically having a hand in all the injury issues, but I thought they pretty much revamped the whole training staff recently? Didnt they get some new head trainer (after an exhaustive worldwide search) to oversee everything just a few months ago? |

To the latter portion of this, guys also have their own work out regimens in the summer that most have been following for years. |
