He was exposed in the PO last year. Bolts took it to Panthers straight through him.
He's a GREAT story for success out of a 7th round selection, but I think he is over rated myself.

- IonSabres

what's kinda funny is that the covid season was actually fantastic for him and he took a significant step back last season.

Remember how well McCabe did prior to his injury? Well, Weegar blew him out of the (frank)ing water in effectiveness.

In fact.. had you combined Risto and Weegar, their impact was a net positive. Which is incredible, because Risto was literally the worst impact defenseman in the entire league.

quite the contrary. He was twice as useful as the previous season. His offensive impact was worse but he was significantly better in his own end.
- TheSabresTaco

He'll suffice until the big Johnson comes in next season.
I would like to see Pilut play a bit...rotate in with Bryson
Maybe he could be a cheap acquisition for a PO bound team looking to add D depth like they all desire.

Maybe he can recreate that success in Calgary.

How much of his positive impact resulted from being paired with Ekblad?

That was dreadful, top to bottom.

Missed the game completely, your guy comrie still starting the season on Thursday vs. Ottawa.

How did comrie look?

I guess Anderson missed an easy save the other day?

making judgements in the preseason is tough cause Chase Priskie's base numbers say he's the best defenseman on the team, which is nice to know he can be a decent callup. But, for what it's worth, Pilut kept up with Dahlin and Samuelsson with an additional 20m of ice time.

Corsi%/Ekblad in 20-21:

With: 53.72
Weegar without: 52.71
Without Weegar: 55.70

Insignificant change tbh. But that was only 35 games.

Priskie, Davies and Clague about to hit waivers. Probably Sheahan too.

Ya.
My point on Pilut is that I think he leaves for UFA next season.
I'd like for the Sabres to get something for him walking out the door.
Cheap Dmen are always wanted at the TDL by contenders.
Bryson is under team control and I think is a perfect 7th D in that he can play both sides.
Rotate those 2 guys, to showcase Pilut a bit

Of note, Priskie didn't play last night and Pilut/Fitz had a positive impact, which is... pretty impressive.

There was maybe 1 weak one last night. They got shelled.

Anderson gave up 2 softies in 20 seconds.

I've never said Comrie would start opening night. If preseason mattered, it would probably be UPL.

I wouldn't be comfortable making that call yet. He has an entire season to show what he can do. Very early signs suggest he's a quality bottom 3, and for the cost you can't just let him walk away. If he can manage to play RHD, send Joker to the sun.

He'll start opening night and almost every goal last night, guys were left wide ass open right in the crease. It was embarrassing.

Granato played him on purpose in front of the toughest challenges.

I've never been confident predicting that. Comrie makes more sense, but Anderson is the vibes move. Also don't think it's that significant, since they'll split the first 2 games anyways.

Vets getting the creampuff home games is typical. Makes things hard to judge.

You've definitely have not been on the Anderson is the starting goalie train.
Guy is basically a coach. And needs to lose his spot. Probably too Injury or poor play. Maybe both, he does kinda suck at times and get injured frequently.

This team is all about the nhl process and earning your spots.....

Your view surprises me, you usually have an idea on what's going on 🤔

they're not B2B so I'm going with Comrie as both. But, I see the argument.

Boss do you think Anderson will exceed Comrie in games played this season, percentage wise? This excludes health related issues.

Comrie came here specifically for the opportunity to start. I just don't this team doing him dirty this year.

I think they probably committed to 1A and he'll have to earn #1 and show he can handle that workload.

Yes been saying this for weeks, despite you promising me/ assuring me that comrie is the guy.

Anderson is the #1
You need the win, you start the guy.
Example #1 - home opener
Example #2 - road opener

He currently isnt injured and can completely fail.
He let's in some soft goals.
I'd trust his veteran leadership and 300+wins.....

Sure they will split some games, I really thought it was upl's net last season. Played himself out of the spot though.

How did you miss on this one? Analytics guys don't look at wins 🤔

First round of the playoffs.

Pens vastly outplayed the Rangers last year but had Domingue in net and Crosby got knocked out.

Series would have been over in 5.
