Family affair gets them there. Berrios with the win and his brother-in-law drives in the two winning runs to beat the Mariners.

Wow the Habs are bad. That franchise is in a shambles. I'll be shocked if they make the playoffs within this decade. What a debacle that is.

Things change quickly in the NHL.

Habs have a good management group and are focused on building a winner for the future, not this season.

I'd make the bet they'll make the playoffs within the next 4 years.

Well I'm not surprised since you're still very optimistic about the Leafs today!

4 years or 14 years? Either way you can count on us to kick the poop out of you while you’re down, er rebuilding, er renovating.

Wouldn't expect anything less.

I'll focus on our cup final, our first overall pick and our likely next top 5 pick while it happens.

Yeah, but I was wrong before. But having been there, I know a doomed, decade-long failed rebuild when I see one, and the Habs....😔🫂

I predicted the cup last year.

This year I predict the Leafs fail to make the playoffs.

Robertson and Malgin making things tough.

Or does JT sit out October on LTIR and let them carry a bunch of extras? It might be best if they do that.

Interesting schedule ...first 5 are home/close to home and JT is likely to miss those regardless. The next 5 games are a west coast trip. If he/they are willing to have him skip that trip then they could carry 23 bodies for the first month.

If he avoids the LTIR then maybe they can only carry 20/21. Factor in Engvall and JT missing a game a two and the Cap gets real tight.

If it's only Lilly on LTIR to start the year then their cap extends to 83.9.

Current goalies = 6.487M
Current 7 D = 23.725M
Forwards (11) = 52.555M

That totals 82.98M leaving them $920k to sign or slot in the 12th forward. Not sure if ZAR would sign for that? Then, when Lilly's back they need to drop back down to 82.5 by cutting a d'man making 1.4M or more (or maybe new LTIR becomes available by then).

Putting Engvall or JT on LTIR would alleviate a lot of cap strain.

Or, if possible, moving Holl or Kerfoot.

Engvall participated in full practice

JT expected to miss 3 games, as one of our best players we want him to play asap to get back up to speed.

Mete has looked alright and can play rs, maybe Gig finally gets his wish and Holl is traded.

All this from one preseason game?
They just went to the cup final and just drafted 1st overall...not a bad two year period.
They have some bad contracts for sure. But things can change pretty quickly in the NHL (example above), if they can unload Price or he retires and with the cap projected to go 1m next year and 5m the year after they could become decent sooner than later.
Hopefully not though.

Isnt Malgin waiver exempt? If so he can tossed down to the Marlies.
