The Bergeron comparison was contract based- not sure how you missed that?. But to be honest - yeah they are comparable - Bergeron is in a league of his own defensively but not at all offensively. Best he ever put up was 32goals 79 points, as a 33year old.

Horvats only 27 - absolutely no reason to think he can't do 30-35 goals - 70-80 points - especially as this team continues to grow and matures together.

Its hilarious when people think Nhlers can't improve past the age of 25 - like there's a governor installed on them.

I didn't miss anything you used him as a comparable... which he is not at any stage of career.... way more Points/Game... and way better defensively. won awards for it... and Horvat isn't 25 (don't know how you missed that) 27 yrs with 8 years of NHL experience. And ya I don't think Horvat is gonna get that much better....I will eat crow if I am wong. I think his ceiling is 2C 70 point max player on career year, if he can stay healthy.

The exact thing he's concerned about - the media addressed Boudreau with today, I basically quote BBs answer and yet he still can't connect the "relevancy" dots....
- Brooks_Light

His comments you quoted were about results in the preseason. You then followed up with lecturing me about results. I never said anything about results and have explained my concerns. And here you are going on about it still after it being explained multiple times.

I always treated you with respect but I really do have to say... you are (frank)ing braindead.

What do you expect someone to say after you keep going on about preseason results? I'm pretty sure no one has complained about results and certainly not me. Being corrected once is normal... sometimes it takes twice but its then an eye opener.... 3 times or more... well something needs to be said.

I compared their contracts originally. You made the comparison between players. I did agree with you about PB defensive play. There really isn't a big difference between them offensively, especially when you consider the difference if teams between the Bruins & Canucks the last 6-8 years. In a perfect world - it'd be interesting to see where Horvats numbers are in 6 years time IF the Canucks made the playoffs in each of those seasons.

Also, to clarify, I know how old Horvat is FFS - I meant players in general improving past the age of 25.

Not much. Just got in the door from my after work fish. Having a beer and turned the game on just in time for the end of the 2nd period.

I guess I expected to be conversing with a fu%king grown up?? That when a disagreement occurs it doesn't result in name calling. I don't really care TBH.

You've been talking about the team being prepared - results, outcomes, whatever the fu&k you wanna call it. It's all relevant and directly related to how the team plays and is deployed this time of year. Clearly Boudreau sees things differently.

Try and follow for once. Put your adult pants on and pay attention. I've been talking about who plays, getting prepared and working on special teams etc. Now here I am explaining it a 4rth time because once again you are confusing outcomes with who is dressed tonight. If you can't tell the difference between the outcome and working on your line ups then I don't know what can be done for you... I mean do you base progress in practice by who wins practice? Do you sit players out of practice because it doesn't matter who wins practice?

There are way too few regulars in the line up tonight and it has nothing to do with the risk of (frank)ing losing. Figure it out ffs. They don't need to play 16 minor leaguers to figure out the 13th forward and 8th dman. They need a look at how the best half dozen of those 16 play with regulars.

Again, this isnt the Abby camp.

Well, mission accomplished tonight. Players all feel good about their effort, the race for the 8th D is settled, or nearly at least. Hog and Garly both lit the lamp. And to top it off, the Oilers will have no idea what hit them come game 1.

Last season the Canucks faced teams who dressed more NHL players at this point of the preseason. Over and over people argued it didnt matter. Figuring out the fringe and beyond was more important. The Canuck's season started in a disaster... the teams who dressed more regulars in the preseason were more prepared and ate the Canucks alive in the regular season.

I really don't understand why people are so dismissive about preparing your core. In two seasons no one will even remember most of the schmucks who played tonight.

Well, the popcorn was OK, the hot dogs were cold and the view sucked from the rafters. They got to watch Abby instead of work so not all bad.

Honestly, if you haven't cut most of the fat off your preseason roster after game 3, you're doing something wrong. There should only be max 2 or 3 extra forwards and maybe 4-5 extra D (depending on injuries because D tend to be more important than forwards) until the second Seattle game and then by today you should just have the 3 or 4 players that you want to take the long look at but your lineup should be mostly regulars by this point.

Common sense. 16 minor leaguers and only a small few of them even considered fringe... not even Green went that far by this point last season.

There was a lot of opportunity to work on special teams against a division rival tonight.... wasted opportunity.

Hopefully Bruce gets his head in the game.
