Problem with your dismissal is there are so few players that need that kind of evaluation.... so the team should overwhelmingly be the starting roster.

Are they trying to decide if Aman or Stevens are going to play C for the Canucks soon? Not bloody likely to happen.

How many of these D realistically are going to make the team? Wolanin-Burroughs
DeKeyser-Juulsen Brisebois-Keeper? 1 or 2 at the most as 6/7. Wouldnt you want to see how they play beside a regular instead of another AHL player? This is not Abby's camp.

As far as seeing who should be a call up.... call up who ever is playing best at the time.... not who played best in preseason. Performance changes quickly and this team needs it's regulars ready to go. We've seen Green drop the ball with too much attention going to players who will not likely ever be a part of this roster. They need to focus... and Bruce was talking this at the beginning of camp... but out the window that all went.

That's how you're making it sound. Ask yourself how many under 30 captains have been let go/traded in the past X #of years? I think there's zero chance of him going anywhere but Lets circle back to that guess next year.

On a more serious note, is Horvat worth 7$? All day. I'd like it to be more in the Bergeron type of 6.8X8. But He does a lot of really important things, really well. Plus, when/if the cap goes up, he'll be on another steal of a contract.

I actually think he has another gear.

- Brooks_Light

If he can bump up his numbers i could see that. But he has had 8 years to improve his numbers.... what makes you think he has more to give? Maturity? Experience? Better line mates?

I should mention that Bergeron is in another league compared to Horvat. Not Comparable.

Its not so Much a dismissal, as an over simplification. They're trying to figure out who the 12,13 forwards are and the 7,8 Ds.

Are there too many scrubs in the lineup tonight? YUP....but the outcome doesn't matter. We'll see the real lineup on Wednesday. And then Friday is when it counts.

Don't worry about it.

- Brooks_Light

Doesnt seem to make much sense. Play AHL players paired with AHL players to see if they can play with NHL players. Again, this is not Abby camp....

You told people not to worry about it last year... and they came out of the preseason not prepared. They figured out who the 15th forward and 9th D was... at that moment... not that it mattered by the time Abby played a handful of games and then it was an assessment of who was playing well on the farm team.

Just get these guys ready for the NHL season is all I ask. At the moment they look like poop and the priority is getting the scrubs ready. I don't know how many times we have to see this fail before people stop dismissing the concerns on who they are playing.

4 NHL regulars if you consider Hogz a fringe/bubble guy.

You know who needs more preparations? Kuzemenko. Sure he had a good game but he hasnt played in the NHL. He sat last game so he's not at risk of getting overplayed.

Good start for the b-squad from vancouver.

JV with a familiar lazy penalty for Edm.
Klimovich with a nice move in the slot and shot on net on the PP.
Good save from Edmonton goalie there

lol... reading some of the posts at me last Sept/Oct when I was saying Green is not getting this team ready for the start of the season.

Also funny... people arguing with me because I thought it was a waste using Miller as a 3rd line C.

Quite amazing how many people as of oct 1st were confident in what Green was doing with his preseason.

This team should be working on their 1st and 2nd PP units. Not it's AHL PP units.

The Bergeron comparison was contract based- not sure how you missed that?. But to be honest - yeah they are comparable - Bergeron is in a league of his own defensively but not at all offensively. Best he ever put up was 32goals 79 points, as a 33year old.

Horvats only 27 - absolutely no reason to think he can't do 30-35 goals - 70-80 points - especially as this team continues to grow and matures together.

Its hilarious when people think Nhlers can't improve past the age of 25 - like there's a governor installed on them.

You didnt? Are you sure... I mean really sure?

I guess we differ in what preseason is for. I'm a firm believer it's to prepare your team for the season. Finding out who the 13th/14th/15th and 6/7/8 is secondary.

I don't know why you think you need to explain to me it's only preseason. Thats just dumb. Nowhere this season or last season did I say anything about the outcomes of the games. All I care is progress in the preparations for the upcoming season. To have someone make the brilliant statement that don't worry about that, it's only the preseason is quite comical.

No it isn't

Boudreau said today - the Avs went 7-0 during pre-season a few years ago then proceeded to have one of the worst seasons in the modern era - 48pts
the year after they almost doubled their wins - 4 years later CUP. Its a poop show dude.
All I'm saying is don't put too much stock in the pre-season outcomes.

Another thing to keep in mind is - pre-season is 5 games. How prepared can you possibly get in that short amount of time. I will throw you an olive branch and say yes, it would be nice if there were a few more regulars in the lineup tonight, but I'm not worried. If we come outta the gate 0-4 then yes - freak the fu%k out.

Whats going on with you? Not once this season or last did I show any concerns about outcomes and its been explained to you again in this thread but you are stuck on something that hasnt happened.

Ok, once again.....

I AM ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING THIS TEAM PREPARED FOR THE SEASON. FOUR REGULARS IN THE LINE UP DOESNT ADDRESS THAT.

Jeezusfukingchrist....

How prepared can they be in 5 games? Some of the regulars(or Kuzemenko) only played twice so far. Who has played 5? Canucks are getting a ton of PP time tonight against a more NHL line up. Opportunity wasted if there are only a couple of 2nd unit players(maybe less) in the line up.

I don't know why the obvious needs to be pointed out to you.

“Wayne Gretzky scored his 1000th point in his 424th career game. He was 23 years old. Give that some thought.”

Just read that on Twitter, kinda mind-boggling, despite poor goaltending and no defence he was just so much better than anyone else in history….except Mario Lemieux, he was better

2 nice goals by Edm.
McD to Hyman with a nice pass on the pp

Holloway with a snipe for his 2nd goal.

edit.
lil tip and a lucky bounce for Garland to make it 2-3.

The exact thing he's concerned about - the media addressed Boudreau with today, I basically quote BBs answer and yet he still can't connect the "relevancy" dots....
