Nice weekend in Ottawa with the kids.
A very walking/biking friendly city.

To bad about their hockey team

- Fakepartofme

Luckily, that team doesn't actually play in Ottawa.

Ottawa is a fabulous place to visit for the weekend.

Skating on the canal is my #1 favourite Canadian thing to do.

so the Jays still have something to play for.
will they rest players for the upcoming playoffs?

- dmnted

Jays need to win 2 out of 3 against Baltimore. Manoah will be starting game 1, game two will be Stripling or Gausman. The rest will depend on the scores during the first two games. Berrios, White and bullpen/Kikuchi starting those three games in Baltimore - might be a bit of a challenge.

So according to the Globe and Mail, Hockey Canada had a second secret slush fund to pay off sexual assault victims.

They kinda forgot to tell everyone about it.

JFC - the entire organization needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt.

No time to wait for resignations - fire the entire board.

A good one for sure, my favorite Canadian thing was skiing at Blackcomb until about 2, playing 9 holes at Whistler, hot tub at the hotel, have a couple of pops at the Longhorn Saloon.

Where'd you go?
- AdamFrench

It has been a few decades since I had been in Ottawa. So I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of traffic in the downtown core.
We stayed downtown (Ottawa Embassy) went to various museums with the kids: Nat' Art, War (they had the reconciliation festival at the war museum grounds. The Prime Minister showed up , Nature, space and aviation.
Toured downtown: Canal walk, Parliament, Byward market, Pub hopped on Elgin. Mainly tourist areas, needed more time to check out the hidden gems.
Beautiful city in the fall, lots of patios.
Kids had a great time.

Any organization that has any type of slush fund to pay off sexual assault victims (secret or otherwise) needs to be dismantled for sure. Need to rebuild those core values foundation.

If you don't mind me throwing it in - basically the magic number is 2 - any combination of Jays wins and Seattle losses will guarantee home field in the Wild Card game, most likely against Seattle. If we end up tied with them, they have the first tie breaker (head-to-head wins, having gone 5-2 against us).

I like your approach though - just take it in your own hands and win 2.

at this point they can probably just stumble to home field.

id expect it to go Manoah, Gaus and strip, but would not be surprised to see Berrios game 3

I edited this to remove the language which could be perceived as a pot shot at another poster. This is the only warning I will issue on this, it was unnecessary and added no value to your post other than to perhaps try and incite an argument, both are unwelcome here.

Playing in Seattle would really be a drag. Making them come here wouldn’t be bad especially since they play 4 games in next 3 days.

Sarevalli says OTT trying hard for Chychrun

Chychrun makes some sense for the Leafs...but not really until next year. Doesn't make much sense to give up so much capital right now when there are too many question marks for 2LW.

I agree, Chychrun makes A LOT of sense for this team especially with Muzzin and his injury issues that seem to be getting more and more prevalent.

Besides other pieces that would be needed in the trade, the only pieces they could move to make the $ work is Kerfoot and Holl.

But then does the line up work with those 2 out and Chychrun in?

Forwards:

Bunting, Matthews, Marner
Jarnkrok, Tavares, Nylander
Engvall, Kampf, Kubel
Simmonds, Gaudette, ZAR
McMann (I like him so far, he would be good on the 4th line)

or

Bunting, Matthews, Marner
Robertson, Tavares, Nylander
Jarkrok, Kampf, Kubel
Engvall, Gaudette, ZAR

Defense:

Rielly, Brodie
Muzzin, Gio
Chychrun, Lilyjigren

Murray
Samsonov

Certainly better. Then when you can move Muzzin you add a RHD and the D is set up even nicer....

Rielly, Brodie
Chychrun, RHD
Gio, Lilyjigren

Seems like a good move, definitely improves the team IMHO.

I sincerely doubt Kerfoot agrees to move to Arizona (I'm assuming it's one of the 10 teams on his M-NTC).

He needs to put up points this year to earn his next contract. He's not going to do that in Arizona.

Probably correct, although Jays don't appear to be stumbling at all. Gausman with the cut issue might need an extra day - not sure. I doubt Berrios is given a start over Stripling - who has been money all year.

Swapping out Chychrun for Muzzin doesn't move the needle all that much this season IMO. A bit maybe, but the value in that trade grows each season.

Regardless I do not think now is the time to make a trade. Let Muzzin's health answer that question as well as Robertson to see where he stands
