Still, it would be nice to see several of the Philadelphia Flyers’ promising prospects show there’s a glimmer of hope, show they can be part of the Great Road to Respectability.
-Sam Charchidi
Don't you have to actually show something to be considered promising?? |

Another awesome showing for Frost.
Kid looks great skating around on his edges.
Great faceoff %.
No shots on goal but that is just a pesky metric.
An assist is super awesome he has proved to me he has arrived.

Must have been another riveting game last night. There is absolutely no depth in this organization and we can directly thank Hexy and Chuckles for that! The only reason Hexy hasn't ruined the Pens yet is because he had more to work with when he got there and they also hired Brian Burke to babysit him. If Couturier and Farabee are out this just may be the worst group of forwards ever iced by any organization at the start of a season. Not one bonafide scorer in the entire group. FIRE CHUCK TODAY! Thanks! |

Don't forget Holmer and the Flyers organization in general for the lack of internal depth. Holmer iced a really good NHL team but he ignored the pipeline and failed to realize a salary cap existed.
100% agree with fire Chuckles. I am mildly surprised he has not overreacted to there lack of center depth.

The kid has points on 60% of the Flyers preseason goals but hey lets bash him. |

He has 3 assist. How many goals have the Flyers scored overall?

Frost has not popped by any means, but out of the 5 Flyers goals this pre-season, Frosty has assists on 3 of them. Still, I am not sold on him as a potential top 6 forward in this league. |

What’s the over under on shutouts this season.
I’ll throw 7 out there. - bird_dog_pa
I could see us getting shut out 7 times a month FFS! Our goaltenders are going to be under massive pressure just to keep the games close IMO. |

I can see a lot of 2-1, 3-1 losses this season. |

you also think rr is a top 4 d-man - most do not put much stock into your player evaluations |

The last couple of years of his tenure as GM weren't good and he left them in salary cap hell as you mentioned. Then he was promoted to team President when he should have been shown the door. He is certainly part of the reason that they have been bad for the past decade. FIRE CHUCK! |

The roster player (Haag) was thrown in to make the caps work, that is how much the Flyers thought of Haag. I did have no problem with the trade and in general with Fletcher being aggressive to fill the obvious holes this team had and frankly, still has. Unlike you and others who judged Risto totally on advanced metrics, I gave the kid a chance over the course of the season. My evaluation of him now is based on actually watching him play, not looking at a spreadsheet. Bottom line is I gave Risto a chance, defended him when he deserved to be defended (when the rest of you were blaming him for everything wrong with the Flyers) and have knocked him when he has deserved to be knocked. |

A first, two second rounders, Hagg and Ghost are bad enough. Chuckles actually watched him play and then signed him to a 5 year deal. I somewhat applaud being aggressive. The shear stupidity of resigning Risto is not forgivable.

He is and has been a poor player throughout his career -- you felt that he was a top four d-man. He wasn't nor has he ever been. The player you now no longer defend from those who understand metrics and the eye test has not changed -
Would you trade a first a second and a roster player for rr today? if you wouldn't do it now why do it before - again as a player he has not changed
this is why many do not put any faith into your evaluations of players |

Three seconds actually - I did not include the ghost dump, I figured that the 250 wouldn't be able to figure out that chuckles had to move ghost to trade for rr |
