No need, Rutherford stated the "D is adequate".

In that event the teams depth will be tested, second option is waiver wire.
- VanHockeyGuy

I think we know what's coming with this club's injury history. One thing Rutherford did very well in PIT was provide depth when injuries hit. Hopefully the same can happen here.

As much as I take the piss out of the team, I do think they are a couple of pieces away from turning the corner.

Allvin is StandPat 2.0 which is fine as long as you know when to jump on an opportunity.

They need two right hand shots one for Center and one for D. Preferable good ones lol

And not approaching 30, younger players with team control is ideal and expensive. If you find the right fit and opportunity you need to go for it.

Doesn't look like JV's PTO is going too well in EDM.

Hard to get young UFA’s unless they find them in Europe.

As for trades, it’s probably doable as a package. But that not likely until salary cap rises.

So maybe there is a surplus that a team has to waive young talent. Should Canucks be willing to trade futures?

Yup. For a while now. Need a couple developing in the minors as well. So, at least 4 in total.

Especially with Jett Woo's disappointing play, this may be his last chance.

Who you thinking about?
- manvanfan

Nils Meloche or Mackey, out of the Flames.

A couple other teams have a defenseman that may need to be waived, but have young players on an ELC, so not sure if they waive the other guys.
I guess it will be determined by the direction the teams want to go in.

It's kind of hard to jump on an opportunity if there is no cap space.

Yeah. Had some high hopes for the kid but he's had a rough go so far. Hopefully the kid stays healthy and gets it going this year. He's still only 22. There's definitely a clear path for him as a righty at the moment.

I know, it's not easy but I'm sure there's creative ways to do a deal. They seem happy with what they have right now, they also stated injuries are no longer an excuse. So we'll see how that works out.

I find it a bit odd that the fans get all giddy about a player who has slowly developed in the NCAA or Europe and hasn't done anything until they hit the 23-25 range, but we almost give up on a player who develops in the junior and AHL ranks.

Jett Woo seemed lost at the Young Stars, I heard he also wasn't doing well in Abby. Maybe the new coach can turn him around.

I'd put Meloche in the same quality as Burroughs.

More and more going to Europe, so less fringe quality hitting waiver wire.

Jett Woo is pretty much equal to a 22 year old college free agent defender, that's sought after.

Woo just hasn't taken a step forward in his development in probably 2 years.

Ya, he hasn't been good, by all accounts.
Maybe Cull was onto something when playing him as a forward.
I just don't like giving up on a player that is supposed to be aggressive, with some skill.
