Poolman imo is devoid of any offense & very suspect on passing.

Myers is more than passable until he pins himself into the dump off the boards.

Dermott is solid enough but expect more from him in a contract year.

Schenn is good value & being partnered with Bones allows him to be a good compliment & his toughness standing up for teammates is necessary.

OEL plays a poised game & is physical but I fully expect to see more from him after a season here under his belt.

Hughes is Hughes.

Bones will definitely add more offense & skill. Sheltered minutes & PP2 time.

Have no problem with Burroughs as a call up. Versatile to play either side.

Overall I give the D at best 7 outta 10. Don’t see more upside unless OEL &/or Bones stand out. Very easily can be 5 outta 10 due to injuries or eg Myers digresses.

8/10 is what’s needed to be firmly considered a perennial PO team.

Always that. Gonna come down to how well he prepared to be better defensively. I’m optimistic he’s made progress but how much & how consistent he’ll play is yet to be seen.

Kids 23, drafted five years ago, feed him some sheltered NHL minutes. He’s skilled enough he just needs to learn the other side of the game. Without the puck.

The NHL isn’t a development league but I don’t mind if a talented young guy learns his position at the highest level. Podkolzin is doing it, Pettersson is doing it, Quinn Hughes is doing it.

That’s my take as well. Time to play him & learn on the fly. Won’t know til he gets to face the best & adjusts as he gets familiar with ops playing against them his 1st time through. Use his smarts. He didn’t get into Harvard on hockey alone. Nobody does without academics.

There is. There's a vet requirement for each team, think it's something like 7 or 9 players have to have a certain experience threshold.

Interesting ... well they must have just squeeked by then. Just a crumby thing to do imho when you know you have a fan base in that visiting city. I mean nbd for me as they were free tix the neighbour gave and I was really only there for a pocket dawg, but there were a lot of kids there which i bet many of their folks can't afford a regular season game.
