I should know. I was in a Thor company

Why am I not surprised? I guess it’s a pretty specialized gig these days. Hard to believe (actually not) that the Russians are now throwing guys into the front 4 days after grabbing them off the street. It’s turned into a meat war for them. |

They sure took it to the next level today by blowing up those 2 gas pipelines. Looks like this is only getting uglier... |

I heard about leaks and wondered. It’s a war they can’t win and can’t afford to lose so you’re right, all the next moves are ugly. |

If they manage to take out Norway's delivery of gas next, Europe is in real trouble this winter. |

Why would Russia blow up their own natural gas pipelines when that’s their largest source of revenue? It’s also the only leverage they have over Europe. |

I disagree.
I think they have 2 of the best players in the world but other than that are ran pretty horribly.
These long term contracts to middle tier players are bad ideas. - Santo_44
When it comes to the Oilers, having two of the best forwards in the game on the team is obviously going to mask a lot of their team deficiencies. RNH is good, and @ $5m, I don't think his contract is that bad. Hyman, we all like - but his contract is probably too long, but the AAV is close to right. Now that Kane has settled with the Sharks and has contractual security with the Oilers, he'll probably go back to being an asshat, but I guess we'll have to see.
The bad contracts for the Oilers are really Nurse, Ceci and unfortunately probably Campbell.
I don't think the Oilers are a well constructed team, and I don't really think of them as contenders - but McDavid and Draisaitl are difference makers. McDavid and Draisaitl beat the Flames last year - in 5 games, Draisaitl had 17 points, and McDavid had 12. The rest of the team went along for that ride - but if Leafs could get their stars to dominate like that, we wouldn't be complaining about the rest of the team being passengers.

I haven't seen much of Holmberg, but I would have assumed that he's lower on the depth chart . . . ordered in my mind something like Anderson, Simmonds, Steeves, Clifford, Abruzzese, Holmberg - but I mean Holmberg is 23, so I guess if they think he's ready . . . |

Holmberg has been playing and practicing with Willie and Malgin and will play with them again tonight so he’s getting a chance. They seem to like his positional play and defensive awareness which is probably important with those two.
If JT is only gone for a few games, I think they keep the big line together. |

100% this.
Poorly constructed team but they have two of the absolute best guys on the planet so they'll win more often than not.

With the short term injuries piling up I have to assume they value keeping as much depth in the system as possible so I'd imagine they'll cut the guys that are waiver exempt and keep as many of the others as possible. They simply need the bodies.
Some of it will turn on whether JT and Lilly go on LTIR too. |

Long contracts don’t matter to Holland. Draisaitl is under contract for two more years and McDavid for another year after that. Hyman wants 7 years? No problem. Nurse forever, Jack for 5? Let’s go for it now cause I’m gone the second Connor says adios |

I've been waiting for Anderson to do something, never does. I think he's fallen down the depth chart. Same with Abruzzese, he was a wasted spot last season when he was up with the Leafs. Either of them seem to "make anything happen" when they're on the ice. IMO.
I feel Steeves and Homberg have shown much more so far. |
