Yea, but I am glad Sully is at least open to giving our second best goal scoring winger to Geno haha. - 668710
Yeah, not to mention Rak and Sid looked really good together too. There's not much juggling Sully can do with the top six construction considering Sid wants Guentz on his line.
Hopefully Zucker and Geno can develop some chemistry. With both of those guys always banged up, it hasn't been good. |

Well, first 5 minutes I've seen this preseason and so far F' Petry. Looked like JJ playing D and then a Geno level stupid penalty. |

It’s almost sad watching Geno trying to do his galloping stuff against AHL’rs and fail. |

Lol, I see what you mean. That's just a pathetic showing for the PP1 against a B- squad. Blue looked really good that period though. |

Biggest thing I've taken away from this game is Dumo looks much better than last year.
Also, Smith looks much better than his first game.
Sloppy pre-season game from the regulars....it happens. |

I didn’t think it could be possible but I think their defense actually took a step back from last season. Pettersson caught once again chasing behind the net leaving a guy wide open in front. On another, he fails to move his guy screening the goalie. Same stale power play with everything on the perimeter. It’s only preseason but there is an ongoing mentality with this team that they can just go out and beat teams with their “talent.” It’s a disgrace the way they have shown up and competed against an almost all AHL roster! |

Definitely slower. Got walked around once and on another stripped of the puck on a forecheck. |

Yea agreed, Doc over Cagg on that 2nd line. At some point I'd like to see Poehling play center to see if that's an option whatsoever. - 668710
He's a natural center if that's what you meant. Playing some wing while trying to break in. I want to see how he could handle Blueger's duties as well. |

I agree that I think he'll be WBS as well. Why hasn't POJ been on the big roster on cap friendly? Is he actually not on the main roster? - 668710
It's early and I think it makes sense to give Smith a longer look since he's new to the organization. I think they have a pretty good idea of POJ's game. But I do hope he gets the next game with the full roster. |

Put my little guy to bed then tried for 20 mins to get a good stream going...no dice.....so I smoked a J of Sour Cookies, played an electric for about an hour then went into a deep Elden Ring hole...seems not finding a good stream was a blessing in disguise. 0-9 on PP? hahah that's pretty pathetic with the roster they iced, pre season or not, you have to at least convert once with 9 attempts...at least once.
I see that Sully said in the post game "we have a lot of work to do"...f'n right you do hahaha. I will say though however, that a lot of these guys have rings and roster spots already guaranteed. Do you think they think they need to, or have the desire to, play balls to the walls for 60 mins in the preseason? nah. |

I forgot Maatta was on the Wings now.....2nd highest ice time for them last night....an assist, 6 hits, 3 takeaways, 1 block and +2...6 mins shorthanded time and 4 penalty mins....not a bad night for him.... |

I know +/- is pretty sh!t to look at in the grand scheme of things over a full season ....but Sid, Jake and Tanger lead the worst with -3 each last night. So your top line was horrible 5 on 5 and your PP stunk it up going 0-9. Never going to win with those factors. |

For those who watched it, or most of it, how did the Petts and Petry combo look? They have nice stats last night compared to the rest of the team.
I see that only 3 different defensemen were used in all of those 9 PP's....Tanger with 10:35 PP TOI, Petry with 6:51 and Smith having 6:20... |

It’s telling that Columbus beat our AHL team 5-1. Gaudreau,Laine and Voracek were not floating around like what we witnessed last night! It’s only preseason but we have seen the same movie over and over during the regular season the last five years. After each loss it is always “We know we are a good team, we just have to put it behind us.” Maybe they are not as good as they think they are! It’s still early, but if they kept the team together for this, Hextall has set this franchise back for many years! |
