Agreed.
Just not equal risk.
We heard about how great of a position the Sabres were in when they had 257 RhD to trade at the TDL a few years back...zero, zip, nada was the result.
Hoping to resign, then having plan B as hoping for a satisfactory return in a trade ..well, that is just bad business. Very bad, a risk that most didn't want.
They are much different scenarios.
There is your answer to the question you have asked repeatidly. - IonSabres
Robertson > Debrincant
Not to mention 5 years of team control over a guy who could arb his way to UFA next year.
Completely different ball game |

What! Every team does it, especially when you have a chance to grab a young good player. That's what teams do to try and get better, just like going and getting Robertson would be for To try and get better. Bad business when you don't even try!! |

Might not be related but I just flew back to the Albany area from out west and flights for all of the carriers were messed up. A hurricane in Florida affects schedules everywhere. Cancellations and delays with no option of alt routes. ⛈✈️💥 |

You both keep bringing up years of control but for either one of those trades and the assets given in the Sabres situation I would hope a long-term contract would be in place so that stuff pretty much goes out the window. |

"As reported by Ian Mendes of the Athletic, DeBrincat “isn’t ready” to sign a long-term deal in Ottawa at this point, although he did say that he’s “open” to the possibility of it."
Think it would be different here?

Probably not, chance you take. Like I said though I would hope a extension was in place before giving up those assets. |

You asked what was different from three months ago, well you just answered it.
Robertson comes with term, Debrincant wouldn’t have.

Robertson wants term, that's why he hasn't signed yet. So he's not gonna want the same here. So I am giving up more assets than I would have for Debrincat for a unhappy hockey player in the same situation Dallas is in. Either trade for the Sabres would or should come with a contract extension. So again term shouldn't matter in either case. |

Miami should have some serious medical questions to answer.

Except Debrincant was never going to come with term.
Robertson has next to no leverage with the amount of RFA status he has left. Debrincant had all the leverage in the world as effectively a two year rental.
Robertson would be most likely receptive to a long term deal and worth the assets to acquire him.

Not a good look for Miami or the NFL. Two major concussions in 5 days. |

The NFLPA likely had their lawyers on speed dial after seeing that play.
Just awful. |

The league should face some tough questions here too, assuming they continue to say everything was handled properly.

Why the frank would they rush him back to the franking Thursday night game, a franking away game, with a 3-0 record?
He’s their franchise QB, and they may have ended his career, to play the franking Bengals?
People need to be fired. |
