Age is irrelevant. Vested years is 3.
Tage Thompson gained an entire year by playing one game for Ralph. - TheSabresTaco
Tage gained the year because he was injured and on the NHL roster for the remainder of the season.
An accrued season is 40 games on the NHL roster. Robertson has 2 years.

I'm guessing he's hated all the recent long term, young player deals 😆😂 |

What kind of offer sheet can Buffalo write to threaten Dallas, without that 3rd round pick?
You really want to threaten offering Robertson $10M+ per season? That's not a threat. That's a joke, and Dallas would laugh at it.

Just because someone isnt a "house hold name " , doesn't mean they aren't valuable
41 goals as a 23 year old. - Boss34
so you think Robertson is going to get 4 (current/former/future) first round picks worth of assets.
Lost34 is what you are. (See i came make up stupid nicknames too. |

Sure it's harder, but they have 6m and 5yrs of team control. And of course it's easier for us with the money, doesn't mean it will be easier. You were against moves like this 2 months ago, what changed - Buff36
I pointed this out in my previous post...5 years of control vs 2 seasons. That is a big, big difference to me anyway. The deal would need to include contract agreement prior to the actual trade. |

Here's a way that Robertson makes it really difficult: He says I want a 5 year deal at $9M per.
That would walk him straight to UFA status. - kingcong39
Not hard at all.
8 years (once acquired) or no deal.
Wtf. |

Love the player, talked about him a lot last offseason. I would go and get him, but I just find it funny how people change there stance from a few months ago. - Buff36
I'd change my mind on McKinnon, McDavid, etc as well. |

Don't you expect Dallas just to get it worked out? Robertson, Hintz, Oettinger, Heiskanen, Lindell is one hell of a core.
Does make you wonder why they felt the need to sign Colin Miller. An extra million to work with would be nice right now. - Lunaion
Yes to expecting them to get it worked out.
But if they don't fun to talk about. |

Not as skeptical to trade a first now with the forward pool we have. IMO.
Wish that 42nd wasn't the goalie, I think we'll end up regretting that one

As a small market team, it should be an invaluable tool. Instead, they just know not to rock the boat. - Lunaion

All NHL teams should fade Connor Bedard. That little guy isn't gonna amount to anything because of height. |

Cat was done growing at his age....
Cat wasn't a center.
Cat wasn't the best player on his OHL team till year 3.

Well that is debatable to say the least. Led the team in goals 3 years in a row with 2 50 and one 60 G campaigns. Obviously when McJesus was on his team no he wasn't better, but think it's fair to say he was the best player his second year. And I'm obviously jesting. |

To quote you, at the end of the day all that matters are the stats. So I'll take either, both, whatever. Good problem to have.
And lets not pretend that because Robertson is 6'3" he's as physically as intimidating or nearly as good as Ovi. |

Here's the way I see it. The cap space is there now. There's a pretty damn good young player potentially on the block. The top 4 on D looks pretty good to me for the foreseeable future. Go get the guy if you want him, without getting totally butt plugged in the trade. If it means you can't sign a good young guy from within the system 4 years from now, so be it. If enough of them pan out where it becomes an issue I'll consider it all a success anyways. Trade Said guy for the return you're giving up now to get this player 4 years from now and keep rolling because it'll mean the team is great anyways. IMO.
