I would hope Adams was able to come up with these moves on his own, I mean it didn't take much.

Agreed. Boss doesn't give KA enough credit sometimes.

Dallas only has 6.3 in cap space with a goalie on IR
- Sabretooth9

OK, so a 23 year old 40 goal winger with 5yrs of team control and you can't find a way to get a deal done. Guess it's not that easy!!

What?
I didn't mention his Contract...Dallas is going to be in tough territory next offseason...and challenged if JR wants $8m.

Not sure of your point?

- IonSabres

That it, not easy to sign a RFA even with 5yrs control, just cause we trade for him doesn't make it any easier

You know Hintz is watching this closely.

Two players you'd kill to have in your organization.

It's harder for a Cap strapped team, no...and much easier for a team barely above the Cap Floor right?

The difficulty for Dallas is fitting in JR's Contract demand this year, and managing their Cap next season.

Buffalo can afford to pay him for the next 5 years, especially if they make Olo a part of that deal.
Although, I'd love to keep Olo so they could move him in another package.

That is THE difficult part...for Dallas, not the Sabres though.

Adam's should be threatening to O/S him..I know not having their 3rd ext season limits them, but whatever...threaten it.

2023 unprotected first, Olofsson, Johnson, Flyers '23 second

Let's see em bet on not being terrible this year

- Hank Balling

I like the betting on not terrible part of the deal, but we're talking an eichel type trade payment in my book.

4 pieces

Krebs (although they like him)
Cozens or Quinn (not tuch)
2023 1st round pick ( protected)
2024 1st round pick ( protected)

Robertson could have more value than the injured eichel, thus the 2nd (1st rounder) instead of a second.

Think everyone shares the same opinion on offer sheets. They should, but we know they won't.

Would you really want to be looking over our shoulder with our young guys, every time a contract is up?

Look at the habs and Carolina.

Put a huge target on the Sabres back, why ruffle feathers?

Dahlin, conzens, power.... so many more guys to then worry more about.

I do not share your opinion: on what you think of other poster's opinions on offer sheets ā˜ļø

Too rich for my blood. I would do the picks with Rosen and Olofsson

What kind of offer sheet can Buffalo write to threaten Dallas, without that 3rd round pick?

You really want to threaten offering Robertson $10M+ per season? That's not a threat. That's a joke, and Dallas would laugh at it.

You nailed it referencing Hintz, as my guess is that's the largest factor in extending Robertson. Much more so then the owner being a bit of a buffoon.

Here's a way that Robertson makes it really difficult: He says I want a 5 year deal at $9M per.

That would walk him straight to UFA status.

The stars have a problem ā€¦.. only the Sabres coyotes and ducks can comfortably afford to pay Robertson if he is looking for 7-8 mill a year.

As of right now, the Sabres seem to be the only one interested in him.

So Dallas needs to do 1 of 2 things

1) Dump a player to create cap space.

Problem with dumping a player - teams are tight against the cap. ( looking at a majority of the teams cap situation)

2) trade Robertson to the Sabres and be forced to take what we give them.

Problem with trading with the Sabres: since you donā€™t have leverage. You might not get max value

3). Let him sit.

Problem with that is. It looks bad on the teams part for doing that

You have 6m, you still have 5yrs of team control, you can't get a deal in that range for a few years.

Sounds like you do. We won't OS your guys if you don't OS ours. It borders on collusion.

Same doesn't hold true in the NFL. No holds barred there.

Sure it's harder, but they have 6m and 5yrs of team control. And of course it's easier for us with the money, doesn't mean it will be easier. You were against moves like this 2 months ago, what changed

Maybe Dallas says they'd rather place the big extension with their center Hintz and trade Robertson for a nice return, because they have 2 big time prospects from their 2021 draft in Wyatt Johnston and Logan Stankhoven who had monster seasons last year?

You're missing a very important option that Dallas also has: They can pay Robertson $8M or more and dip into LTIR with Khudobin, then they can worry about the 23-24 cap next offseason when they need to extend Hintz.

Dallas still has leverage.

Love the player, talked about him a lot last offseason. I would go and get him, but I just find it funny how people change there stance from a few months ago.
