He is, though. +/- heavily skewed by playing for one of the worst franchises to ever exist.
Besides, Norris voting hasn't taken actual defense into consideration in a very long time. - GreatGigInTheSky
Disagree.
Gio was +39 when he won it… agreed, he had 70+ points but that’s still a very very very notable difference from what Chychrun has accomplished.
However I’ll still lean your way with a couple things added. He’ll look better playing for a more talented team absolutely but he also needs to have a season where he doesn’t miss 25% of it due to injuries as well. if this kid can overcome the second thing primarily I’ll agree with your point of view. His talent can be questioned but you’re not wrong he’s been on a bad team and that needs to be considered.
I guess my primary concern is he’s making almost what Rielly did once he signed after his ELC and hasn’t accomplished the same amount.
Too many questions I guess is what bugs me about Chychrun if that’s what Arizona is expecting for a return. |

He does seem pretty chill. - GreatGigInTheSky
He’s older than the average age of a NHLer and will be damn near 30 by the time a new contract starts. I’ll be surprised if he lands the equivalent or something more than what he currently gets for the leafs… unless he slams back another 50 point season…
I know he had a couple questionable moments in last year’s post season but I still don’t blame him. They lost game 7 2-1 and Rielly had their only goal. That is precisely where you need Matthews, Marner, JT, or Nylander to outscore the opposition so yes. I blame those 4. I don’t give a rats ass if Matthews and Marner had an assist.
Yet everyone blames guys like Kerfoot for losing that series, blows me away. |

Mr Freeze leaves one of the best teams in the league in the centre of the hockey universe with great facilities to play for an ownership under investigation, in college facilities where the college has first priority and hockey is an afterthought.
And going into free agency you can forget about racking up points playing alongside superstars. Why would he do that? |

Because there’s still 21 teams in the league and he can’t refuse a trade to.
So if the leafs aim to move him they’ll be able to, so he might want to consider who will resign his older than average age self.
Not saying a guarantee to that, just that I could see how maybe he might find it reasonable to do. |

Yeah that’s pretty cool.. it’s the one orbiting another asteroid or is it the other way around?
I can see this being humans’ first step on learning how to ensure we can protect ourselves from things like that (even tho this one wasn’t a threat, just an experiment I know) |

I’ll admit I haven’t followed them too closely this year but they’re sitting in a good spot and it’s nice to see they took a 10th inning win today. Leaves a good idea of what this team can do under the crunch of a game |

Hockey news article about Dubas
4. He's borderline likable.
But beyond all this mish-mash, the Maple Leafs' generalissimo has survived one of the dumbest moves in Toronto hockey history -- the absurdly expensive signing of John Tavares.
First, we must dispense with the fact that Honest John is a genuinely good guy who, more often than not, means well. Unfortunately, none of that Boy Scout stuff gets his club past the first playoff round.
The fact is that Tavares never was a superstar on Long Island and it's even debatable how good a captain he was at the time.
Good, by the way, is not to be confused with great.
So what Dubas has is a player who isn't worth half the salary he's getting; who the Islanders did very well without; thank you.
Dubas wasted a ton of Larry Tanenbaum's good money on the Captain, disrupted his salary cap, and is stuck with Johnny Pyjamas |

I think any truly significant moves will happen at the deadline at this point. Having said that, a move that rocks the hockey world to its very foundations could happen right in the middle of this sentence I am writing. Z5 - Zezel
I'm planning on rocking your world to it's very foundations... |
