I hope both of our top goalies do well of course. Just a gut feeling that Samsonov will be in our longer term plans.

Agreed, that is my sense as well.
Hoping Murray plays well enough that the leafs can recoup some pics in trade in the off season.

We'll see.

I'd love both to play amazing, Murray win the cup for us and then have the option to deal a 3 time cup champ or a young 1A RFA starter with a low QO.

Or, or if it turns out that after putting his career on the line, Dubas has two really good goalies, he does the un-Leafy thing and holds onto them.

Matthews, Marner, Nylander all re-signed. Knies turning into something. Lilligren, Sandin, Niemela with Rielly all sounds like a not bad core if he got one or even better two good goalies.

My guess is will see more of the 7-8-9-10 guys they have to see who they can rely on once one of their top 6 is hurt

For instance, without Sandin signed who will they role with on that bottom pairing?

Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Holl
Giordano ?

I was truly happy to hear Gio is willing to take on playing either side… if Dubas can get Sandin signed that solves the concern rather nicely

I think you'll see Benn and Mete steadily throughout the pre-season. Not necessarily both in every game as a pair but in general, at least one of them likely suits up.

Didn't he and management agree late july he would be better served with another NCAA year before ̶e̶v̶e̶n̶t̶u̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶l̶e̶a̶v̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶U̶F̶A̶ maybe joining the leafs at the end of the year?

Ah yes, the "this team is a contender because it won some preseason games" proclamation. That always turns out well.

Even included (frank)ing rookie tournament games.

They’re good and okay decently and can step into that bottom pairing role. Like those two as pickups this past summer

I think it's funny that they consider that saying they are contenders for the playoffs. I do give them credit for saying how they came up with 4 - 0.

They better be paired with someone who can look after them.

You might be right but I highly doubt it. Currently there is only 4 D of their starting lineup not hurt (well Muzzin might be back shortly) and that would make it risky to play all of them because they truly can’t afford another one getting hurt atm… so keep them in a low key role to ensure you got them for game 1 of the regular season (and the last couple games of preseason when it’s essentially the regular season roster)

Am I losing it, or didn't you say you were moving out east at some point in the near future?

I forgot all about them until I heard their names in a pre-season game. I like the depth. I know some people prefer other 7 - 9 dmen in the league but meh, these guys wanted to be here.

Yeah, neither should be relied upon as a solid top 6 option.

They can fill in for a while if needed but that's about it.

I think you’re jumping a little far on your judgement atm. To expect guys to play their first game with a team and different players solidly is a bit much to ask. Of course they looked awkward, they’ll still be learning the defensive system the leafs use.

We’ll see what they look like by pre-season’s end. I’m not expecting all-stars by any means but I’m willing to bet they become solid 7-9th d-men

If I could do a Jim Morra impression I would go "Regular season? Regular SEASON? We're in pre-season and you're talking regular season?!"

Aiming to move out next spring. Thankfully Alberton wasn’t the hardest hit area. And even a bigger thanks goes to the fact that we didn’t head out about mid last week to look over the place. Had a couple seizures in August so we decided to delay it… and then another one last night ffs… my tongue is mangled atm and my back is thrown out this time around. *grumbles*

We’ll likely go to look it over in about a month. We’re giving it a couple days but we will touch base with the neighbour (who took care of our lawn when we weren’t allowed there due to Covid) and make sure there was no major damage.

That’s because a lot of leaf fans want 7-9 d men who are skilled enough to be top 6 on another team… hence why they don’t take on a role in Toronto

Those two will be fine for that role once they fully learn Keefe’s game
