Why would you try and trade Provorov? He has one of the best contracts for the Flyers RN. - Pixote Andolini
According to Joe Nardone, its a horrible Hextall contract |

No pucks on the ice on Day 1. - bmeltzer
I haven’t been following closely. I saw we’re playing Saturday, so I assumed they’d hit the ice hot. |

If Torts keeps his word and play the kids I will be happy. I think it is important to see what you have with a few of the young players. This is a good year to do it. |

Really feel for Ellis. Can’t imagine how demoralizing it is to miss now a 2nd straight year. |

Because we don't need him now.
Because you would get assets in return.
Because it would facilitate the complete tear down we desperately need because we have no other veteran contracts that are tradable. |

Fletcher spews more hot air than Mt Vesuvius.
Here is the honest translation:
On the state of the franchise
We suck balls, we’ll probably suck balls again this season but hopefully Torts can beat a few more points out of my horrid roster and save my job. Honestly, it won’t take much since Dave Scott is clueless and Clarkie loves me.
On Ellis
Oh he’s totally done, I was just boldfaced lying to you last spring. We have a better chance of winning the Cup this season than you have of ever seeing Ellis play another game.
On Couturier
His back seems pretty well screwed but at least he might play again someday but probably not this season
On the training/medical staffs
We replaced some doofuses with some other doofuses.
On the young players
Look, I’ve worked long in hard to bring in generic borderline NHL veterans so that these kids can ride the buses in Lehigh Valley. We need Lappy to work the cuteness and creativity out of them until they buckle down and learn to play Flyers hockey.
Any final words Chuck?
Yeah, go Pens!

I was there yesterday and the excitement in the building was unlike anything I’ve seen in awhile. Flyers hockey is definitely back.

“How is Ellis holding up mentally?
It is extremely frustrating for him; I think he thought he would be a Predator forever. He got over the initial shock of being traded, he came here…”
This is very telling. Why would Chuck feel the need to make that known (or if it was known, why reiterate it?)
Whether it’s rehab or surgery, is there no rush to get better on his part because he’s in Philly? |

just listening to him, solid person, open minded, hard working and rewards effort. When asked about the kids, he just lite up and said "yeah I am going to play the kids".
listen up kids- its all up to you now, earn it - wcorvette
Makes you wish they hired Torts over AV. I feel AV caused some of the regression on this team, just can't tell how much is on him. |

Is that really what he said? JFC. Even if it's true, say Ellis loved being a Predator but looking forward to helping the Flyers win and building great relationships here. |

SO how long before Provorov wants a trade?
No PP time anymore will have him crying again, and then his play will go down hill.
Trade him now get that 1st rd for this years draft and other assets.
IF chyc is worth 4 assets then provorov should be worth close to that.
Also see what the market is like for TK & Lauts.
This team will not compete for a playoff spot so selling assets for picks and prospect makes the most sense. Dont attach assets to trade players though, such as Hayes or coots but we need to get all the high priced guys out because they have proven nothing so it is time to move on. - Flyerloon

Yeah I feel bad for him too. It must suck to collect those paychecks without playing a single game... lol
I really do feel bad for the guy if this is all true. His career may be over at an early age and he was indeed a very solid RH dman |

I feel bad for him to. He didn't get to decide when it was time to walk away from the sport he loves and played all his life he was forced to stop.

Looking at the potential roster and considering what Tort's has done in other places, I think the Flyers will struggle to score 5 v 5 this year, but this will be balanced by being a much better defensive team 5 v 5. The key to this season for the Flyers therefore will be the special teams. I expect the penalty kill to be better, however with Couts out I still believe the Flyers will be no better than the league average of 79%. So it comes down to the PP. DeAngelo will certainly help, but I think the dark horses will be players like Foerster and Allison if they make the team at some point in the season. Both have excellent shots and if the Flyers use them effectively as flank shooters with DeAngelo's ability to move laterally and pass the puck, the Flyers over time can develop a potent PP. It may not help this year, but in years to come its something to look forward to.
I was initially against Tort's hiring, but I'll tell you what, the more I listen to him, the more I like him. If nothing else, I'll have his pre and post game pressers to look forward to this coming season! |

Likewise, Ellis was a really, really good defenseman in this league, especially for his size. His skill, grit and compete level were all well above par. It sucks for him, and it sucks for the Flyers. How much bad luck can one franchise have? I'll guess we'll find out. |

It really is a shame that we never got to see what he could have done for this team.
He would have looked good in orange and black but we also wouldn't be in the running for Bedard if he was healthy... that's my only silver lining in all of this |
