Don't be fooled by how badly everything went last year.

He's a perfect 3rd centre moving forward imo.

he will most likely be a 2c to start the season, lots of work to do with Dach before he takes over the 2c chair.

and with Fantilli being drafted next summer...Dach will end up being a 3c anyway

33 points in 78 games.
38 points in 78 games
7 points in 20 games (projects to 29 over a full season)
38 points in 70 games
31 points in 56 games (45 point pace!)
33 points in 56 games (48 point pace!)

Last season was the most productive one of his career.

And a 48 points pace isn't suited for a third line centre?

and most of it came after St-Louis took over. Let's see what he can do this season.

They just need someone to step up as a 2C for the sake of the team (and Suzuki).

Hopefully it will be Dach at some point but who knows?

Well the plan is for Dach to fill that role eventually.

Doesn't need to be next season.

And hey, maybe broken hips Monahan bounces back to being a decent player? The odds of that are slim but they exist!

Wasn't saying that. That's perfectly fine. I'm just saying that he'll probably be in that 35-40 point range as a 3C, which, again, is perfectly fine.

I was saying last season wasn't really a disaster for him personally as that's the most productive he's ever been.

The 26 year old centre was injured in late January and did not return to action until March 17th. St. Louis took over the team while Dvorak was out, and the American centre played the best hockey of his career under the Habs new coach.

Dvorak was held scoreless in his first three games upon returning from injury, but took off after that. He would finish the year by scoring 17 points in the team’s last 20 games. That put him ahead of Suzuki by two points over the final fourth of the season for the team lead.

If Dvorak plays 130 games this season...he could get 110 pts...simple math. Could even pass Gretzky record if he plays over 250 games.

I still think he can improve on those numbers. We'll see.

Turns out Gardiner won't be playing huh? Lucky you.

Yeah he died.

Failed his physical again. Looks like they'll probably sigh de Haan and try to trade one of their four bottom pairing D men.

Dach is not taking over the 2c job right away...It is Dvorak's job IMO until Dach proves he can handle the job and produce offensively.

I don't know.

What's wrong with them?

Bear used to be considered highly but couldn't even make the Oilers top 6 on defense...

the problem is on D and net IMO. This is a development year so of course they have big holes in the line up in different places, they have to move some contracts, develop the kids so they can graduate when they are ready.

Any fans that complain the team sucks, is not winning, they just don't understand what's happening. This is going to be painful to listen to those people often. Some of the kids will take time, some will take a step backward, some will be injured, this is not going to go quick and without bumps.

I just hope they don't end up with a cinderella story and they end up closer (without success) to a playoffs spot then they should. Next summer would be a great time to get another top 5 pick while the kids already drafted get closer to the big show.

Actually he was being played over his head in Edmonton. He played top line with Nurse for quite a while. He’s struggled with the long Covid last season. Probably best suited to bottom pair duty these days. But he’s definitely nhl quality. Trade was about getting the bottom 6 shored up.
