Yes, he’s playing behind a 38 and a 33 year who’s only alive because of the medical sorcery of our very own Max. I think you overestimate his defensive liabilities and underestimate his ability to move the puck up the ice. Oh and he actually shoots the puck from the point on the PP.

Now get the (frank) to PEI and eat a potato

He’ll never be the 2nd pairing guy because he’s not strong enough defensively and that’s the primary role of the second pairing. Means he’s gotta wait for two years to take on a bottom pairing role.

If Sandin really doesnt want to sign maybe a trade with the Rangers for Lundkvist their disgruntled d? Might not be that bad a move.

Tbh my guess is that Dubas is sitting on this to see if A: the leafs have an injury to their left side or B: Dubas is waiting to see if another team gets an injury to the left side and are willing to overpay for him

I just think the media is way overblowing this is all

My guess is the only reason they’re holding onto him is because atm he’s not worth anything in the trade market.

How’s things?

- Dozzer

I think he has trade value, I think the only reason they are holding on to him is because Dubas thinks Sandin has a future with the Leafs..

I do agree though, he's at least a few years away from being an every day player on the Leafs roster.. Unless, Muzzin is injured and out for the year.

Insane work wise and it's nearing that time of the year where summer is over which equates to lots of work at my father in laws in PEC taking toys, lifts and docks out of the water etc.

At least hockey is starting up soon, I've been chasing down the fools from our mens league team to get committments etc. It's hillarous to me as everyone gets older (becasue I've run this team for quite some time) the emails, texts and conversations have shifted from "Cush don't get too many guys, I like my ice time" to "Cush we need to have a minimum of 10 guys show up for each game, get like 15 skaters or more even if you can, my old bones can't handle double shifting and playing way too may minutes at 9pm on a Wed night".

He’d land a 4th and nothing more.

Is he talented? Yes. But with the other young guys signing for around 1.5 who have more experience in the NHL he’s not going to get much. He’s also going to be nothing more than the 7th for the next two years. Couple that with the fact that he’ll never be top 4 until Rielly starts to dwindle with the leafs I can see why he’s at the point where he’s hoping for a trade.

Even tho I don’t play these days myself I do still play music… been a couple months because the drummer and guitarist I play with primarily spend the summer hanging with their kids these days lol. (I remember my guitarist’s son being born and now he’s pitching for a university in NY state for crying out loud :lol

Needless to say it’s not my bones hurting but the tips of my fingers are so damn blistered they’re purple atm… I vaguely remember when they felt like leather

Ya, I'm not getting all the Sandin love either. Sure he's alright at CERTAIN parts of the game and then kinda sucks at some other, like defense, which should be an issue for most since he's a defenseman.

I would package him with Kerfoot and find a better LW.

Then yeet Holl TF outta here add a pick/prospect and find a better RD, maybe a cost controlled RFA from a team that wants said prospect and can bury Holl or needs to get to the Cap floor.

Feeling okay… bit of a battle… they’ll be plugging me back into the epilepsy ward sometime in the new year so we’re going to ensure we buy a new tablet so I can easily watch the leaf games while I’m there lol

And like I was mentioning the only reason I don’t think he has been traded since the market for guys like him is next to nothing currently.

How’s things with you?

- Dozzer

Well better to get checked out than to not and have something happen! At least most leaf games are fun to watch!

I do agree his trade value is low but I mean what would you want for him if you're Dubas? If Dubas can get a first round for kapanen I feel Sandin should get one too lol

Oh god yes.

I run a league team and a tournament team and they are both frusterating in many ways. Everyone has an opinion on how they want to see something specific done which is differnt than what you've done.

(Asking specific guys to play or not invitiing specifics guys is a great example).

The moment you ask them to take that specific thing on and do it for the team - then suddently their desire for change is magically gone.

Bastards.

To start I truly don’t mind Holl because let’s be honest… for 2 mill a team isn’t going to get a guy who’s much better. I do get the idea of opening up cap space to get someone better tho.

I don’t mind the Kerfoot idea kind of? Lol.

Here’s why tho. JT has spent his focus this off-season on his skating. People blew me away last year because after spending a summer where he couldn’t practice he still damn near put up a PPG for crying out loud. Yes his speed is a bit of an issue but I think he’ll surprise us this year tbh… which means him and Nylander could be a wrecking crew offensively this year which makes Kerfoot (or at least a guy with the same skill set) a big priority for that line. I’m not against moving Kerfoot but I’d want him replaced by a defence first forward if JT and Nylander can dominate.

Sandin will never be on the 2nd pairing since that’s primarily a shut down role

Means he’s a bottom pairing guy til Rielly gives up the top pairing role

- Dozzer

I don't agree.

Plus puck movers can play against top competition as well.

And Sandin is 22 years old, he can mould better defensively.

When has this been the case?

TB had

Hedman
Mcdoanough
Sergachev

down the left side for years, it doesn't matter.

Sandin was drafted 4 years ago and still isn’t a regular NHLer… 3rd or 4th pick is what he’ll get at this point due to that.

Would you pay more for another D man who still hasn’t proven to be a full time NHL guy?

As for getting checked out (which means can they do another lobectomy lol) my primary concern is if they’ll let my gf bring me food from outside the hospital lol

Until Keefe is no longer the coach he won’t be a second pairing guy. That’s what I mean. Not my opinion just to be clear.

Really think that the moment Dubas left his contract in limbo, that option B was in place.

Sandin and Robertson are very decent players but they are really not the pieces the team needs at this point.

For me. the goalie tandem sends shivers down my back. I wont be shocked if Samsonov is the key piece in the end.

And until that second line has the missing link to compliment 91 and 88, well, we're back to ground zero at season's end.

But, what would a Leaf fan know.

I think you are taking pairings too seriously.

TB has 3 of their best D on the left side.

its about minutes, PP,PK roles.

Injuries happen.

Of course in a perfect world you have a perfect even LS/RS D and their skill sets...its not realistic, and you do not trade one away because of it.

Example:TB back to back to back cup finalists
