Judge knows not to swing at crap. Right now, Vladdy not so much.
- Canada Cup

Even when he does, he at least hits it. Vlad looks lost lately. Even missing very hittable pitches.

Need him to wake up and pull a Bo come playoffs.

I've been talking about how absurd that poop is for years. I was told it wasn't a problem because Holl was good. The (frank)ing audacity.

Springer and Teo are just as bad (even though Springer came through last night). Teams know how to pitch to them and they haven’t adjusted.

Team is going to have to do it on pitching. That’s why I want them to play a weaker team (Twins or Guardians) in wc round.

His timing looks like it's basically there - but he's on top of everything. It seems like even when the pitcher makes a glaring mistake, he's just missing the sweet spot. I'm guessing it's the most minor of mechanical adjustments - which are really hard to make because your normal motion feels normal and the adjustment feels like your normal motion.

Bearing in mind that Teo has been around long enough to have made a lot of necessary adjustments. He has always been susceptible to the outside breaking pitch - but when he's scuffling, he doesn't pick it up and lay off. When he's on his game, he picks that up and it's useless. Right now I think most of Teo's issues are in his head.

Springer's are in his elbow.

Yup, absolutely. I know Springer has a (frank)ed elbow and I think the team said something about Teo being hurt, too. But I thought that was a ruse and just trying to cover for him, since he's been terrible.

I have full faith Vlad will figure it out. He's too good not to.

And the Jays badly need him to.

And yet, Vlad still leads the team in OPS, OPs+, slg, HR.

but this has been a rough stretch, maybe his worst ever

That's simply too far of a walk...plus crossing the border will no doubt cause issues for the parade.

Last year he was able to damage to just about anything pitched to him - inside and on the outside part of the plate or off the plate. This year he’s getting jammed on inside pitches and missing outside pitches because they’re throwing them further off the plate.

Instead of cutting back on what he’s swinging at and waiting for mistakes he’s still trying to hit pitches that end up dribbling out to third or SS. He hasn’t made the adjustments.

Realistically there are 22 teams he can be traded to. At the moment, he is our 6th best signed defenseman, and because he plays right-side, he has a spot in the lineup. He is serviceable as a bottom pair guy, but overpaid for that role. I still think we sign Subban cheap and dump Holl. I don't know if I see a clear path for Sandin to sign.

The obvious move is to trade Kerfoot, but that left-side is weak and the 2LW spot isn't obviously spoken for by anyone I can see. They can give Robertson a shot - but frankly, I don't see a line of Robertson-Tavares-Nylander being defensively responsible at all. I think it would work worse than Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander, and that line had its issues. Jarnkrok is a decent player, but he's still better suited as a 3W. As a Leaf fan, I still have misgivings about taking a 3rd liner and thinking he can be a 2nd line player; yeah, I'm looking right at you, Kris Versteeg.

I was looking at reciprocal trades where moving Kerfoot out provides a cheaper, but perhaps lesser or riskier LW option, and I don't really see one from a team that would be interested in making that type of deal.

The moves that could have been made: Domi, Rodrigues, Athanasiou, Stastny or perhaps Kubalik - have all been made, and I don't think there's much out there on the left side.

I think it was Barker who said that it looks like Springer has exaggerated his swing potentially because of his elbow and that could be the problem.

The fact is that teams have figured out how to pitch to the Jays. They’re going to need to rely on their pitching

id like to see where they would be if they hadnt figured out the jays.
since this is where they rank League wide batting

BA - 2
OBP - 4
SLG - 4
OPS - 4
OPS+ - 3
total bases - 3

thats some terrible figuring out by the league lol

The hitters are going to need to make adjustments as well. Bo has been making them - and while this may be a hot streak, it's supported by small changes he's made in his approach at the plate. That twitter thread that sens shared is pretty good, showing that Vlad struggles with low pitches (as, obviously does Teo), and will need to make changes to identify those, and approach them accordingly.

From what I've observed, when a baseball player is "figured out", there are two reasons: 1) They are very young and not able to adapt, or 2) they have sustained a physically altering injury that changes the way they play the game (swing, throw, field, run) which they are unable to compensate for.

Vlad is adaptable, and Teoscar has not had any injury that is changing his swing or approach. It may take longer than we want, but I have faith that both of these players will make the necessary adjustments.

Holl is trash and unfortunately as long as he's here, he'll be getting entirely too much ice-time. Because Keefe is apparently willing to die on that dumbass hill.

I also think Dubas is gonna do everything he can to keep Sandin, since he was his first ever pick as GM. He already fast-tracked him to the NHL, so I'd be shocked if he just cut-bait.

Where did Kubalik sign? I don't remember.
